I know after reading many of the discussions & blogs, I share the same pain, burning, tingling as many of you. There is one mystery pain that I haven't heard too much about. Many mornings, when I roll over to turn the alarm off, I am immediately hit with severe pain in my stomach. It feels like the muscles, not nausea or anything like that. The best description I can give it is I feel like I did 200 sit ups the day before. My muscles are just cramped and sore. It comes out of nowhere and I can count on the pain for 2 weeks at a time. It makes me sad to think I had these muscle pains for legitimate reasons not too long ago....now my body gets worn up while I'm asleep, lol. I kidded myself for a long time, assuming I was "sleep exercising" but my yoga pants are too dusty, I know better. Does anyone else suffer from the "night crunches"?
Hi Colleen,
Yes, unfortunately I get them too. I take a good Cal/Mag/D3/Boron supplement recommended by my Chiropractor and it helps to keep my muscles from going into spasms, but I still get them.
So sorry to hear you suffer from this, hope you can find some good relief. Be sure to keep a running note, so you don't forget anything when you get to the Dr. Always tell them of problems, no matter how trivial they may seem to you. This is NOT trivial however!
Wishing you well,
SK
I have the same thing. In fact I have rib pain (going all the way around to my back too) almost all the time. And you are right...it feels like you really overdid it at the gym. I'm glad to know it's not just me! And I wish my body would work out while I slept - I would have abs of steel in no time!
Hi alexa35, Have you talked to your doctor about the rib pain? My husband had the same type of pain and they found arthritis and compress fractures. It can be treated! My husband goes Monday for a procedure to take care of his. I'll try to remember to let you know how he makes out.

the fact it last 2 weeks, kind sounds like it might be tied in with period. I check it out with your OB-Gyn just in case something is going on such as endrometrosis which can feel like different kind of pain to some women. Or even fibroid, could be a lot of things.
Just wise to get severe pain checked out to rule out more serious things. Remember, we just try and let others know what we found out if we had similar pain it is not statement of truth. Why it is important that we all go to the Doctor if we are having serious problems.
I once got cyst and was in terrible pain off and on for months much how you describe despite being on strong pain killers and ended up in emergency surgery. After surgery I got an infection which i literally had to go every day including weekends to doctor and have infection cleaned and repacked for 3 months so it would heal from inside out. ER did not find what caused it but my OB who is excellent Doctor did after ultra sound.
So you stop worrying, just bite bullet and find out what it is or not. I mean if it is something that is easily fixed you will be so relieved! I hope that is what it turns out to be.
I have rib pain, but is weight an issue? I know I’ve gained 25 lbs since I’ve had this stuff and have been inactive. Just asking…
Hi Colleen , ouch !!! But yes I can understand what you are saying, when I wake up I move very slow to see what muscle group is going to be killing me today, it’s usually my back, like someone has been beating me with a bat all night long… And the muscle pain in my chest, legs, arms is like I had been working out at the gym all night…I think every muscle hurts in my body, but some hurt more than others, remember even the slightest activity to your muscles and they hut like the dickens, have you maybe used that muscle group in your belly and didn’t realize it?
Keep a journal of your activities, and the pain the following day, it really does help you see if there is a pattern to what we did and how it affected us the next morning and day.
I’m so sorry for this, do you take a muscle relaxer… Perhaps at night it would help…
That’s my dr’ s ans , I couldn’t take it at night, but I know many do
It is always a good idea to have it checked out… If its something new or something you feel may not be fibro
Unfortunately they try and say everything we feel is fibro
If you really are not sure, be persistent
Hugs & blessings
My Rheumy seems to think it's "just the fibro" or it could be my psoriatic arthritis. Once my PsA is under control, she said we would start to decipher any outstanding issues....hopefully that will be soon!
Thank you. I will try the journal. I work in a warehouse, so I know I over work myself and sometimes don't even give it a thought until the next day because I'm in such a busy, busy, busy mode.
This is going to sound silly, but I try to avoid the Dr. unless it's life or death. I currently have no medical insurance and after a year of testing with my old doc before the fibro diagnosis, I dread starting all over with a new one and paying out of pocket. For the past two years I've been "sucking it up", lol... but I'm nearly ready to give in.
Speaking of blaming everything on fibro, was blaming it this week for feeling extremely run down & sore.... low & behold, my family has the flu, lol.
Have a great weekend!
Actually, no, I continue to lose, mostly because I just don't have an appetite anymore.
Isn't it sad that we're relieved to hear someone else has the same pain?!? It's just so hard to share these mystery pains with people that can't relate.
No, not when awakening but I do occasionally get a pain like that in my lower left abdomen. It's muscular in nature and hits suddenly, like WHAM! Sometimes it's sharp, other times it isn't. Okay, not sure if it is the same as what you're experiencing or not. I would mention it to your doctor. I'm not too sure if this is a fibro pain or not. It's good that you've brought it up though, so others can learn, and hopefully you'll find an answer.
Sorry that I can't help you more, Colleen.
Ahhhhhhhhhh, you work in a warehouse. I'm not a doctor or anything but I'll bet the pain is from overuse of the stomach muscles and then the fibro amplifies the pain. Still, it's probabably a good idea to get it checked out if and when you go to the doctor.
The reassuring factor of finding others with what seems to be highly unusual pain, is to keep us from thinking we are completely losing our minds! Colleen, I also have several autoimmune diseases, and the biologic (Enbrel) has helped the severity and the frequency of these occurances.
I hope that you find the right relief for you!
Hugs,
SK
