Let me guess, from the title you thought, McDonalds, Burger King, KFC or Subway.
Wrong!
I want to talk about and ask for your recipes that are tried and true and most importantly fast!
It hurts me to cook for long periods of time and find it difficult to find a healthy, non-prepared meal that is quick.
I don't want pizza pops, burritos or something to microwave. I have gotten my spheghetti, manicotti, tortelini and other pastas to 30 mins or less. My grilled cheese takes 12 mins and shrimp takes 7 and sausage depends on size but 5-20 mins.
What are your under half hour foods you cook that don't hurt too much?
It's summer here in Australia, so currently my go to quick foods are salads. One we've been having a lot is marinated chicken over salad. I toss a chicken breast in some tupperware with the marinade into the fridge the night before, and bake it the next day. Then chop/tear up some veggies for salad and have the chicken on top. Depending on how big the breast is it might take more than a half hour to cook I suppose but you can always cook more and eat them cold at a later time.
My daughter mixes mince, sometimes chicken with teriyaki, salt pepper a little mixed herbs and an egg together, sometimes pork mince with sweetchiili sauce egg and mixed herbs, sometimes pork mince with herbs and crushed pineapple and an egg, she buys rolled sheet puff pastry and spreads the pastry with a thin layer of the mince. She uses Edam ready grated cheese to sprinkle over it then role it up as you would a pinwheel scone. She slices it rolls it on it’s side and bakes it off in the oven. It’s delicious and doesn’t take much to prepare. You could do batches of mince and freeze it in amounts to suit how many people you are cooking for hence reducing the time needed to mix each time and just pull out the amount of mix you need to thaw overnight. She’s never frozen them ready made but that might also work.
