So today, we go to the grocery I’m exhausted for one. On a new sleeping med that is not working for over a week now, 2-4 hours a night if I’m lucky. Stressing because, I lost my script and tomorrow will be my last dosage of some major meds. With major withdrawls, and psych doesn’t want to re-write. I could see if I’d ever lost a script before. So on the way home, I get lost. Completely, disoriented and confused lost. My oldest who’s 16 and has no idea on the back way I took is going left right, left right !! I literally broke down crying. I felt so stupid and helpless. I mean on top of this I lose my car everywhere if I’m not right in front of the door. Should I even be driving ? Is this my life at 35 ?
Huge gentle hugs sweetie!! Firstly, I know life with the fibro fog at a young age can definitely be overwhelming. I’m 31 and somedays I can barely remember my own phone number. Especially when you are having a horrible day. As far as the getting lost, I look up directions to places I have been frequently and track myself in realtime. Please don’t feel stupid.
Robyn I’m sorry you had such a bad day and aren’t getting any sleep. Have you actually lost your script or is it like mine, they are in my purse right in front of me, in the pocket of a coat I wore to the doctor, or I actually dropped it off at the pharmacy to be refilled and I get so anxious, I could walk right by it. If you can’t find it you need to call your psych’s office and get another script, or have his office phone in an emergency supply, until you see him. He’s not going to want to have you stopping these meds suddenly and as well it sounds like you need to get a new sleeping med.
IT’s no wonder you got lost and broke down with so little sleep and worrying about your meds, plus having someone telling you which way to go, I’m sure I would have lost it big time. Used to lose my way and my car all the time but that lovely little key fob and GPS helped a lot. Hopefully your 16 year old is getting their learners and will soon be able to drive.
I realize with a family, it’s a lot harder but you really need to take some time and get some rest, things will look better once you’ve done that.
Gentle hugs, Barb
I have done all of that and psych refuses to re-write rx so tomorrow, I go cold turkey off 300 mg Effexor xr in the am and 75 mg at noon also my Topomax 100 mg 2x a day for migraine prevention and my 40 mg 2x a day. I’m scared to death. And I have my kids until Sunday. And my fiancé is not on the fibro bandwagon. And is not going to be supportive.
The more of this I read the madder I get. Do you have what we call a general practitioner ( in Canada) or a family doctor you can go to and get these meds? I don’t understand any doctor that operates this way., I realize why he is concerned about a missing script but don’t understand how he could let you suffer through this. Mind you I was also naive enough to think all doctors are under the “Hippocratic Oath” and was wrong,
However the AMA Principles of Medical ethics state VIII. A physician shall, while caring for a patient, regard responsibility to the patient as paramount.
I’m a Canadian so I don’t understand your medical system but was wondering, if you got a migraine and went to your ER could they help you.
Don’t be afraid to ask for some assistance to get you through this from your kids, family and even from your fiancé.
Remember to try to take care of yourself and get some rest, I wish I had a solution for you
Gentle hugs
Hi Robyn,
I hope that you and your Dr can find a sleep solution for you soon, Lack of sleep and stress are very hard on us. Is your oldest able to help you with the driving, it may be good to give you a break, and give him some experience with you in the car.
As my Rheum explained, it's the pain causing the lack of sleep and memory loss, it doesn't do your nerves any good either, believe me I know. I hope that the Drs can soon get you in a better place.
We are all here for you, anytime you need to vent, or need a shoulder, you have already helped so many here!
BTW, taking the liquid B12 has helped me with my sleep at times, but check with your Doc, or pharmacist to make sure it's okay!
Wishing you well,
SK
