Frustration with PAPER WORK...venting

Well, I don't really want this to be too much of a gripe. I know I have a better than most situation, but the amount of hoops and paper work is so frustrating.

When I left my job a few years back, I knew about the long term disability benefit. That I would be covered fully in my health insurance for free for 30 months including my child and that I would get a 2/3rds paycheck as well. Plus an advocate for assisting with the SS dept.

Over the last few months, I kept getting a notice for paper work the day after my doctor appt. The agency stated they asked for records directly, but never got them from the doctor. So, I of course have to chase them down. I got them all the appt notes for the last 4 months that clearly state no improvement, but one form did not arrive. This was partially due to my dr going on holiday and the fill in dr not wanting to do the form. TO top it all off when I pulled out the form my regular dr just told her assistant to fill it out exactly like the last one on file. (annoying that fill in dr would not do this, and also insisted on decreasing the percocet for the month) Now this is the second time I have had paperwork not get done when a dr is on holiday...well first time the dr was on maternity leave. It was such a challenge the first time I had to shell out $200 for a job function assessment that lasted 4 hrs and of course caused serious fatigue for the following 5 days.

Saturday, when they are closed, I got a letter stating my account was closed due to lack of the one "golden form".

I sent this form in TWICE already.

Why do they have to make every thing so challenging. Next week my daughter is having her 15th surgery, so I will be quite busy caring for her. I am hopeful to get this situation repaired tomorrow but I am feeling such intense stress over this one form.

These people do not understand that dr will not fill these out unless we are at an appt with them. I cannot just go in for an appt just to get a piece of paper filled out. Waste of time and money, my insurance wont cover the extra visit and the dr will be annoyed causing issues with my care.

HI Lyra - I totally know what you are going through!! My father was a doctor - who passed away 30 years ago. The doctors today are really incompetent!! I can't tell you how many times I had to jump through hoops with fire around them to get myself on disability!! The doctors would 'lose' the paper work I gave them - or I would call them and they would promise to call back - no way. I went through this for so long I was just disgusted. Finally, a friend of mine recommended a disability advocate. named Richard. I made an appointment with him and within one week everything was taken care of. I couldn't believe it! I, personally, had to go through tons of red tape to get people to listen to me. We are a dime a dozen to these people, you know?? Also, having Fibro certainly doesn't help!! (Smile). I had to retire from my job 7 years ago. It was a devastating time for me to retire, because I worked at an animal hospital and was with a surgery group there. My Fibro was getting in the way, big time. I loved working at the hospital - but I was also lifting big dogs onto the operating table and taking care of those that couldn't walk too well. I started suffering from extreme fatigue because I wasn't sleeping well at night because of the pain. Fibros are not good sleepers. We spend more time trying to get comfortable and before we know it, it's time to get up! I hope I have helped you somewhat. Laurie
