Hello everybody once again. I have a question: what is mayo and where is it?!

l rilled out a form months ago. more symptons hav come since them. im started by seeing an interest. my daughter who is a 3rd year med student is meeting us there.kinda nervous-especially since i hate to fly. just want some answers.
the mayo clinic in rochester minesota is suspose to be the best in the world medical they treat royalty.and people from all over the world come to mayo. you have to throught alot to get an appt. they dont see everyone who wants to come. they pick and choose. i relt l lucky to get in.
that was a great letter whisperinthewind. I think I will print it. I will also be praying for rileybug I hope she gets the answers that she is looking for from her drs. appt. I would have giving anything to have a diagnosis of anything other that fibro. the illness no one can see.
I am a grandma as you can see by my screen name. and you can still be a loving grandmother that is caring and kind and this means more to them then anything. when i'm feeling well I call my kids and ask if I can pick up the babies and go for ice cream or to the park. I take plenty of pics. and days when I can't physically do it, I look at the pics and see what a great time we had. please don't think your life is over, its just going to be different. it sounds like you have a great husband who is willing to help out. go easy on him, we all know men can't do the job as well as us.lol I hope everything goes well for you. I will keep you in my prayers.
thanks so much for the post.i guess im just down about life ive got alot of fatigue today so im a little depressed. is there any thing that help with that?
What makes you smile or laugh? Today was brutal for me as well. I am waiting for the mailman because I have four movies coming from Netflix. The comedy "Ted" is going to be my first choice because I like to laugh when I feel like crap. I also have "The Bourne Legacy" and while I like Jeremy Renner, is he Matt Damon? Maybe tonight I will watch that. Ooooh, Tim Burton's "Frankenweenie" will be here soon. Can't wait to watch that!! Finally, I have "Ice Age: Continental Drift" coming. I'll watch that tomorrow AM. I only ordered that because the trailer seriously cracked me up. I give it to you to judge: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yFM32FwrDk).
My point is to find something that you can lose yourself in. Perhaps it a new book. I just recommended Oprah's newest Book Club recommendation called "The Twelve Tribes of Hattie"). She called her library and they will send a large print edition through the mail to her. Although not my taste the book looks like a good read. The point is to find something to occupy your brain so that it can focus on something other than pain. Here is the synopsis:
In 1923, fifteen-year-old Hattie Shepherd flees Georgia and settles in Philadelphia, hoping for a chance at a better life. Instead, she marries a man who will bring her nothing but disappointment and watches helplessly as her firstborn twins succumb to an illness a few pennies could have prevented. Hattie gives birth to nine more children whom she raises with grit and mettle and not an ounce of the tenderness they crave. She vows to prepare them for the calamitous difficulty they are sure to face in their later lives, to meet a world that will not love them, a world that will not be kind. Captured here in twelve luminous narrative threads, their lives tell the story of a mother’s monumental courage and the journey of a nation.
Beautiful and devastating, Ayana Mathis’s The Twelve Tribes of Hattie is wondrous from first to last—glorious, harrowing, unexpectedly uplifting, and blazing with life. An emotionally transfixing page-turner, a searing portrait of striving in the face of insurmountable adversity, an indelible encounter with the resilience of the human spirit and the driving force of the American dream.
Wow Whisper! What a great story on FIbromyalgia. I am going to print this and give it to some friends of mine and to my daughter as well. My son understands what I am going through - but my daughter often gets impatient with me and we are not on the best of terms. This is part of the reason. Thank you again for the story!! Laurie
Hi Rileybug - going to the Mayo Clinic is wonderful! I know you are apprehensive to fly. I am the same way about flying. Please don't worry about the flying part. You will be fine and the best thing of all??? You are going to get excellent treatment and you will be leaving the hospital with a wealth full knowledge and a better understanding of what you are going through. Please know that we will all be thinking of you and getting on this website is the best thing you've done! I will be anxious to know how your visit to the clinic goes and hope you will share with all of us when you return! Good luck! Laurie
Hey guys, please do use the letter as i do. I used it to explain my fibro to my family because the only one who "gets" it is my mom. My Dr. also describes what i call a fibro attack as a toothache all through your body, which i thought was pretty spot on as well. But im not scared anymore that i have fibro and my heart breaks for Rileybug because you can tell how scared she is and riley if your reading this please lean on your loved ones now, they love you let them hold some of your worries and so you can concentrate on you and as far as getting out of the depression part, God gave me the most Beautiful nieces and nephews anyones ever seen and they love me as much as i love them, i couldnt love my own child more than i do them, so you see there are reasons to smile and the depression will never completely go away but it sounds like you have a wonderful husband, just dont shut him out, he loves you riley, let him love you.
God's word in Psalm 56:8
You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your
bottle. You have recorded each one in your book
HELLO, IF YOU ARE CLOSE TO THE MAYO CLINIC THAT IS THE VERY CARE YOU CAN HAVE. I KNOW MANY DOCTORS THAT LEFT UCLA, TO STUDY RESEARCH AT THE MAYO HOSPITAL OR CLINIC.
GOOD LUCK
I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR ABOUT WHAT THEY SAY. I AM HAVING GLADS AND ARMS SWELLING. SO,IT IS NOT MUCH DIFFERENT THAN WHAT YOU ARE GOING THRU.
