Major vent

So I am so feed up with the owner's of the restaurant that we partnered into. So Here is the story. Husband works basically 7 days a week. the one other cook and I use that word loosely. Calls in sick, doesn't put any effort into his job, Spend half his time leaning and not working. Get the picture.

For a while now they have wanted to get rid of him. well today he quit. Yeah less stress all around. Oh wait a minute he called the owner's. "I think I made a mistake. I shouldn't have quit. I want my job back" Our response Hell No.

Husband gets yelled at for treating him badly. since when does excepting you to do the job you are paid for treating you badly. You are paid to cook and clean. You do very little of either. You are lazy and take forever to make one plate. You cost us money when you mess food up. You forget full orders of food. You can not make a dish the same way twice. You are juvenile and won't stop trying to hit on the bosses daughter.

Why would they keep this kind of person. We are done being doormats. I hate to see what business looks like if we leave.

Hi Youngone, sounds like you have a good reason to be frustrated, business partnerships are never easy, maybe your husband could sit down and talk to the other owner. Perhaps there are other employees that see how this guy works… Or rather doesn’t work…

I hope things work out

They know how he works they have wanted to get rid of him for a while now. They decided to let him have his go back and blamed the husband for being too hard on him, They have until the 17th of February to figure something out or we are walking away. What really bothers me is that we are now a society that our grandparents would be ashamed of.

What happened to the day when people wanted to work hard for their money. Now it seems that more people just want to show up and get paid. I am so not cool with that. How about you? what do you think?

My husband is a chef and he tells me stories of this nature all time… Although he works for a huge corporation. Rules, rules, rules. Good luck. Your husband shouldn’t be yelled at for any reason especially since he is a partner. I don’t get it. There will be someone out there that is committed tobyour standards. Good luck!

The guy should work or he shouldn't have a job. I wouldn't put up with it. There are too many people who are unemployed and would be glad to go in, do their job well, and collect a pay check.

Is your husband an owner? If so, he should have a big say in decisions like this. If not... there may not be much he can do.

Good luck,

Sharon

I hope venting has helped you feel a little better. The owner is probably afraid he will file for unemployment or cause some kind of trouble. Have you documented all the things that he has done? Was he reprimanded in writing? If so all of those things can go to show the owner why he should not be rehired. Also his calling in sick each time or not showing up to work? I know it sounds like just so much red tape but anymore it's like if it's not documented it didn't happen.

Hope the situation improves so you can take some of the stress out of your life.

Hugs

Yes we are partners in the business. He has quit so he has no grounds to file for unemployment. We do not do write ups there is a total of six employees. The owner's constantly undermine the husbands choices and negate everything that he does to improve the restaurant. They know what he does wrong and that they are dissatisfied with his performance. It all comes do to the all mighty dollar. They would rather pay a person who is a filler then to give the husband more money and let the filler go.

Wow,I’m sorry things are such a mess at the restaurant ! It’s a hec of a process! My parents had a business when I was in my teens and early 20’s . It was great.

Things that alter a business:

When you dont have One person thats BOSS. ( Calls the shots.)

Poor communication or no communication

Not having meetings with the person you partnered with

Not having consistency in service, food ect

Not having simple but great food that can get out quickly

Making sure your staff knows what their responsibilities are and if they Don’t meet those expectations, their gone!

Adios. Don’t let the doorknob hit you on the way out. Now, find a good worker.
