Well tomorrow at 13:30 I have my first cognitive behavioural therapy appointment. I am hoping that it goes well and that I do not end up bopping someone on the nose for wasting my time. Anyone else have any experience with it? If so how did it go? If not reply anyway... always nice to know how people are xx

Hello my friend!

Nope, never had it, just try to be as calm as you can! I know I'm a good one to tell you this, it's like the pot calling the kettle hot! ha! You are so highly intelligent, I know this will possibly seem insulting, so hopefully you get someone really compassionate! Just imagine me there 'handling all of the negativity for you'! I'll be there with you in thought, for sure!

Put it out of your mind for now, stick me in your pocket tomorrow!

Big hugs,

SK

I will try to, thank you. What I get frustrated with is when doctors treat you like an utter idiot when then know next to nothing about your circumstances or condition them self. The doctors who take the most care getting to know you are often the ones that help the most.

Arranging daffodils now. I have around 100 of them :) xx

That was exactly what I was talking about, try to stay cool, and don't get upset, or offended, if that is possible. They are not used to patients being so highly evolved, and so 'up on their conditions'.

Hopefully they will be aware that you are an accomplished law student and far from an 'utter idiot'!

Remember, just give all the frustration to me. Do not let them rattle you right off the bat! Hopefully you will be meeting with one that will meet your criteria!

Great big hugs,

SK

Hey there,

Back from my appointment. It went really well. We spent about 90 minutes chatting and getting to know what I need help with. He is going to get back to me about what form of CBT and what other help they can give me.

Also because of my panic problems he is going to try to arrange me for me to meet the crew of the ferry (where I feel really trapped when I am panicking) and find me a room on the ferry I can go to if I need to be alone :) xx

Hi Mike I’m glad your appointment went so well, and that the Dr? Is going to help you feel more comfortable or at least in control when you go across on the ferry. The fact that he spent so much time with you in identifying what you need is very positive.

This is something I’m interested in, so I would appreciate any sharing you can do on the process.

Hope you and Rossi, and Peter are doing well and that your home is a lot warmer now. Take care.

Hey there,

Yes I am a lot warmer than I have been for a start, partly thanks to the weather being a bit better and partly because of all the tips I have had on here. I am not sure if it is a doctor I am seeing. He is basically a social worker who has studied psychology in detail and now is able to do assessments of peoples needs as a broad overview as well as specialising in CBT. What made me happiest was that he told me that there was nothing "weird" or "abnormal" about me and that I am just responding to a range of difficult situations in ways that others may not. I was able to tell him about a lot of things that I did not feel comfortable discussing with the psychiatrist, simply because he was easier to talk to (probably sounds weird).

I will definitely share things on here, I am not sure if I will post new threads from time to time or try to find this one. I guess finding this may be better as long as it does not disappear too far down the list. Hope you are well xx

Glad you had some positive possible solutions, and felt at ease with this gentleman.

Wishing you continued success,
