Hi everyone,
Just wanted to ask if anyone else gets this. I have had back/stomach pains for some time but lately it has gotten much worse. Down the right side from the waist and across the stomach and all across the back, it’s getting really bad. I have just tried a TENS machine but only used it twice, can it be that making it worse or just ‘bad luck’. I can only take paracetamol which doesn’t help. Will it eventually go away, or shall I just try and put up with it? I don’t know what to do.
Sue.

Hi, SueT!
I am so sorry for your pain. I also suffer from pain all over my body, but my terrible stomach pain is usually associated with IBS, which many people with Fibro have.
I’ve posted a link, below, to an article that I just read, discussing the different types of fibromyalgia pain. Several paragraphs down, it references abdominal pain. Aside from IBS, some people do have abdominal/pelvic pain with Fibromyalgia.

Here is the link:

> **[The 7 Types of Fibromyalgia Pain](https://www.verywellhealth.com/seven-types-of-fibromyalgia-pain-716138)**
>
> Fibromyalgia involves several distinct kinds of pain. Learn about the different types and what treatments may work for them.

I do not know what can alleviate this type of pain, but there are nurses, moderators, and other fibro sufferers on this site that have offered amazing advice. I’m sure someone else will have ideas for you! Saying prayers that you will feel better soon!

Hi Aussiemom,
Thanks for your reply, will have a read of the site that you sent. What with my lower back ‘gone out’ again from the arthritis and the increased stomach (and everywhere) pain, I was thinking I was going crazy, or there was something else wrong that is worse. I shall just have to try and be more relaxed about it all, but when your stomach feels like it’s blowing up, it’s a bit hard to relax.
Take care, Sue.

Actually, just to be safe, have you made your doctor aware of how bad the stomach pain is, SueT? If your body is hurting, in a way that is different from other pain you’ve been experiencing, it is always best to see your doctor. I wish you better days ahead! 😊

Hi,
I told my doctor about all the extra pain back in January, and said that the fibro sometimes masks other things and she asked me what I thought it might be and I said maybe something to do with the liver or kidneys. She did do a blood test but nothing showed up. She wasn’t interested in getting a scan or anything else and now, with the virus messing things up, be lucky to get an apt with her. My stomach has settled down somewhat and my right side pain comes and goes so will see if things keep improving. If not will have to try to get apt I guess, and then be told it’s fibro/IBS which is all they say these days.

You know, if your right side pain gets severe, you might head to the emergency room to make sure it’s not appendicitis. Just a thought.
Stay safe & well, SueT!

That was another thing I asked the doctor about months ago, she wasn’t interested in that. If it did get too bad, then yes, I would go to A&E. Going to try coconut or other milk see if that makes a difference to the IBS, hopefully it will.
Sue.

On stomach pains, when I have some discomfort, a little baking soda in little glass water does help.

Also I take digestive enzymes and probiotics.

And a routine of daily magnesium.

Hi,
Thanks will try the baking soda and see if it helps. Has anyone tried a chiropractor for help with the back?

I’ve gone to chiros for 30-40 yrs and they saved me, also some good D.O. manipulation work as I had a great D.O. many yrs ago. Good massage always helps… I’ve done everything just about and no desire EVER to do back surgery.

Seenie here from ModSupport.

When I see members talking about OTC products, supplements (even baking soda!) alternative practitioners etc. I feel I should caution people that they need to tell their doctors everything that they take and everything that they do for self care, as harmless as it might seem. Even OTC medications and supplements can interact with other treatment, so it’s good practice to keep a list and share it with your doctors.

Carry on! This is such an interesting conversation, so many great ideas.

Thanks for the reminder, but I don’t take any medication from the doctor as they all affect my poor stomach. I have told her about vitamins etc, but didn’t seem interested.
Have been going to the chiropractor for three ‘treatments’ and have stopped to wait for a DEXA scan to see the bone density along the lower back as I have osteoarthritis there. He ‘suggested’ having a deep sports massage, but I declined as my husband does a light massage on my back and later my back feels like it is on fire-does anyone else get this? Can’t get the other ex-rays I need on the NHS as they aren’t doing those at this moment.
Hope everyone is doing ok.
Sue T.

That’s just fine! The reminder was intended for anyone who reads the thread, to explain why we sometimes make that point.

Stay well, take care and have a good day!

How do people cope with the pain, my back has been getting so much worse and never stops hurting, even when lying down. Not being able to take strong painkillers is so frustrating, it’s like a knife in my back sometimes, and then it’s ache and more ache. I’ve tried everything I’ve heard about, and have had to stop exercising now as it makes things worse. Any ideas again would be good, maybe a new body?

SueT, a new body is a perfect solution!!! 😀 Let me know if they start handing those out!
Seriously, though, sometimes the only thing that helps me is an epidural injection, but, since you aren’t able to get x-rays, I’m sure your doc won’t recommend that yet for you. Other times, my back finally calms down a little (when I’m between flares), and then I feel the pain in my shoulders, feet and hands - But, I do agree that the back is the worst. I’ll say prayers that your pain will calm down and give you a break. Hang in there!!! (Have you tried a heating pad or ice? Or, alternating with both?)

AussieMom, will let you know if a new body is ever a possibility, there will be a long line up though. I think what gets to me the most when my back is so bad, it seems to make everything else worse as well, the chest/ribs/sides which all gets a bit much. I do use a heating pad as that seems better than ice. Another annoyance is my sister who seems to think I should just ‘get out there your back’s ok’ if I mention it at all. Be ok if we had a car, but we don’t. Enough of my moaning, hope your day is a good one.

Hi, SueT.
Yes - Don’t you love it when folks say, “you just need exercise,” and it is hard to even walk a few steps!!! I don’t wish this on anyone, but, if they even had a clue, they would have a little compassion…
Hang in there! 💙

I hear you, SueT! Right now, I’m so tired, my back is aching, stomach cramping and body saying “Go Lay Down!” But, today is a busy work day (I work from home), and I still have another couple of hours of work to do…It is nice to know that people in this fibro community understand. 💙

Dear SueT, 2 ideas and do not know whether either will help but thought i would mention.
1st, has your doctor mentioned your gallbladder? The doctor -who-isn’t -my-doctor -anymore pooh-poohed my right side pain for several years. Even when the gallstones showed up on the xray of my broken rib, he said not to worry. Gallbladder surgery 9/9/2019: the surgeon told my husband it should have been out 10 years ago.
#2, $54 from Amazon was my full body massage pad. When the pain is intolerable, i lay it out on the bed, set it to slow & random & 30 minutes and climb on board. It overstimulates my nervous system to the point of shutdown and i drift off to sleep. The first couple of minutes are agonizing but worthwhile in the end.

We know our bodies better than anyone but sometimes it is hard for others to understand. Trust your instincts!

💐 hoping you are feeling better by now, hugs and prayers and blessings, ra49:turtle:
