For a couple of years now I will feel like my cell phone is on silent and vibrating in my pocket…but no cell phone in my pocket. This phenomenon happened so seldom that I marked it up to my over active imagination…until recently. Now it happens several times a week, usually my hips (hence the cell phone in pocket), and it is also happening in weird random areas, such as inner knee, neck, back…and others. Anyone else experience something like this?

Yes, I know exactly, and I think it's either part of our nervous system or our electrical system that is haywire, however I'm not a medical professional, this is just my guess.
Hopefully a Doctor can tell us something about it, in my case, it's probably due to spinal degeneration. What a cheerful little topic that is!
It would be good if the Doc could easily explain and 'fix' this pnenomenon, but who can really say?

Oh my goodness! I'm new here and was just scanning the posts and saw this. I've had this too, but thought I was imagining things. What a relief it is to know that I'm not crazy! I've actually reached to see if my phone was vibrating, only to find it wasn't there. This has to be a nervous system problem. I've never mentioned this to anyone.
Another thing I've experienced is numbness. A little over a year ago, my mouth and chin felt as though I had been given Novocain and it was wearing off. Drinking became a challenge, especially from a can or through a straw. MRI showed nothing and the neurologist said it was probably just my fibro. I had had fibro for over 17 years at this time. It's improved, but it's still there. It's all so strange!
I would love to know how many have this too!

it sounds like muscle spasms. i have them all over and at times the mild spasms do feel like a vibrating phone. i would get to your dr cause spasms can get very painful. there r meds that can help and they r not expansive.

I work part time doing hair, and I always have my cell phone in my pocket. I usually have it on silent, and I’m always thinking of vibrating so I think somebody is blowing up my phone, when I get a chance to check my phone, I’m expecting messages and calls and voicemails, but there is absolutely nothing on my phone.
Wow! I am so glad to find out that I am not imagining things (alone, at least tee-hee). 2Blessed, I have had the exact same numbness in the same place--it did not interfere with drinking, but I discovered it when I was putting make up on one day and could not feel the sponge touching my chin and cheek on the left side. The numbness comes and goes...and now thanks to you I will add that to the list of things I need to tell my Rhumy about. Eeoreluver29-I have an appointment with my Rhumy on April 19th-I will surely mention this to him. I already take a muscle relaxer at night, Mobic, Savella, and beta blockers. I think I just need med adjustment and from what I have read adjusting meds is simply a way of life for all of us. Thank you all...like I said it is so nice to know that we are not alone (and not just imagining things...).

Me too SK! I see my rhumy on April 19th---maybe he will have some ideas for us. I have researched it but nothing 'scientific' is out there to read regarding this symptom. I will keep looking when I have time. It is really frustrating when we know that if we had something like Hypertension or Diabetes there is lots of info out there, but nothing for these neuro/autoimmune conditions....sigh
NOooooo! It really is happening!?!? I know this happens to me, usually when I'm busy and shopping or something. Like you, Lisamay I thought it was my anxiety or over-active imagination. I reach for my phone and it's not there. I have a lot of hip pain and that is about pocket level. Makes me wonder if it's connected to my hip pain. Another thing to add to my list for the rheumatologist.
I'm sorry you have this, Lisamay. How long does the vibration sensation last for you? Hope you find an answer. When you do will you let us know?

2Blessed, hi. I just wanted to share my numbness experience. I have bad neck/cervical spine pain all the time. When it gets really bad I have pain that goes from my neck/bottom of head up over my head and down my face. The doctors call it a tension headache. I call the docs crazy! It's more than that. Anyway, this also causes numbness in my face. The only one who tries to help me with it is my chiropractor and his massage therapist. Regular doc doesn't know. Neurologist didn't know. Maybe when I see my rheumatologist next month he can shed some light.
I always wonder where our nerves are located and how they are connected. Sounds like we got some wires crossed!
