So what kind of doctor is best to treat this? I used to have a great DO female, who understood the childhood abuse connection but I no longer live in Denver. I live in Oklahoma where I suspect I am being treated as a drug seeker. I am becoming more and more unable to function. I just make it to work and that is all I can do. I can barely shop for food, etc.
Hi Lisa, Hope you are doing okay. My doctor had me see a Psychiatrist so they could go with higher dosages of medicines if needed. It was my Rhuemy that sent me their because he couldn't write a higher dose on my medicine. What was nice was I was on alot of different meds and she was able to change my meds to the right ones and dosage and now I am taking less pills which is nice. Good Luck and keep us posted. Lisa, I wish I had an answer to that. I am working with a pain clinic as well as seeing a phycologist. I am 64 and think that though the years I have learned coping skills as well as got help long ago for the abuse aspect. I am surpised that the physicans keep asking about this issue. I am sure it plays a part of this whole thing, but not so sure that it the major cause as many CHF patients haven"t suffered from childhood abuse. I also have 5 sisters and they are not affected or so they say anyway. I was the one abused both by my Mother at a early age on and then sexually abused by a non-family member.
I am going to a pain clinic now and I it just seems no one really understands the fatique aspect of this. I am at times so weak that I can't even get out of bed and do a days worth of house keeping. I had to drop out of cardiac rehab. It was three days a week I go Monday and was ok but then Wens and Thurs two days in a row I could not do it. I had post extreme fatique and just can't even force myself. I do realize that the loss of using our muscles makes us worse and now dealing with a autonomic dysfunction just from the decondtioning of my body.
I was once a firefighter did a full days work and a hard one at that, now life is hardly worth hanging there, except I have a wonderful fiancee that makes my life worth fighting for.

Hi Lisa, alot of the people on this site seem to go to a rheumotologist. Mine sucks, I was already seeing her for lupus and she sent me to an internist who diagnosed the fibro. She acts like fibro isn't a real illness, so I don't bother telling her anything about it. The only good thing she did was to send me to the internist (also a woman) and she's great. I couldn't ask for a better doctor. They can treat everything, so if I were you that's where I'd start. Best of luck, Charlie :)
