Do I give up?

Yeah, true, but what I like most about #5 California/golden poppies is they are more orange than all the yellow ones, and 10x as big as buttercups.
Now the flowers have opened the RHS-tool have identified #6:
it’s rough oxeye = smooth oxeye = false sunflower, they’re really taking off now. Can’t see how it is rough or smooth, or both at the same time, and I don’t see how they’re unsuccessfully attempting to be sunflowers, so I prefer the German name “garden suneye”. Love the way they shine and stand out in the dusk as well as in the daytime.

And I don’t seem to have put up any of the evening primroses yet, they’ve taken off too, just needs getting used to that they open in the evening and close in the late morning, as the name says…
Some are over a yard high, like all the suneyes.
