Does anybody's skin ever hurt?

Yes, I literally meant 'hear' the sinus pressure. I don't know what you call this. I hear my own blood flowing which sounds like I am under water. You have something similar to this?? It is quite annoying because it's loud and feels very uncomfortable and even painful. It lasts about a few to 30sec. I get it when I sit in certain positions for some reason. This seems to occur with sinus problem. It's not related to FM?? Did your doctor tell you that? I think it's related. FM makes your nerves hyper-sensitive so you actually hear your own blood flow.

I've always had sinus problems - I've suffered chronic sinusitis for several years (2001-2007) and I was on different antibiotics for half a year which made me allergic to almost all of them. I had a corrective surgery to fix deviated septum (after a dog attack) and that really helped with chronic sinusitus. I rarely have it now. I also watch my diet to avoid candida overgrowths.

I am so sorry you also have nerve damage - it's the worst type of pain, I think. It's like you are being electrocuted very slowly! Is it all over your body?

Hi Geranium, I think your question was for me on meds? Not sure as I’m foggy now. Easiest way is for me to send u my email address. I can reply easier it’s a long list. If u want to email me I can respond at my leisure from my phone or PC (it’s at work)

Geramium,

I take only two since a lot of meds cause worse side-effects. I take the lowest dose of hydrocodone for pain and ambien (I even cut it in half) for sleep. Other than that, I take a bunch of suppements that my holistic doctor recommended.

My typing gets bad, too. I skip lot of letters from trying to type lightly. I also transpose from trying to type as fast as I can. I can never get the numbers in order, either whether I am typing or writing. I've always had this one since I was a child, so I can't blame it on fibro. I've written my birth year as 1870 when filling out a form!! I try to laugh at myself when things like this happen. It is kind of funny! The funny thing is that no one even noticed!

The condition is called pulsatile tinnitus. Not to scare you but going to see an Ear Nose and Throat doc might be a good idea. I have had this since childhood and it can be maddening. There are few specialists in the US. Having specific tests like a MRA of your brain is a good idea as there are scary things which can case this such as brain tumors. So sorry to tell u this

The ENT will also address sinus issues. I have those problems. Try nasal irrigation (plastic bottle from Nelimed)

Hands r killing me from typing on an iPad. Sending u my email address

Do you have pulsatile tinnitus symptoms all the time? I don't have it all the time- it's only when I have the sinus problems. I've had several MRI of my brain and doctors found nothing, so I don't think I have brain tumor. I think it's related to my sinuses.

I'm afraid to try the nasal irrigation thing since I seem to get sinusitis and ear infections from getting some water in my ear and sinus in the shower! I used to wash my ears w/soap but had to stop - I think washing caused my ear infections. Water seems to get trapped inside my head. Do all the water come out when you do the nasal irrigation??

Well...guess what? I can't remember now who I directed the med question to b/c I'm in the dreaded fog too. I'll look for your email..hopefully I will be able to see straight in the morn..that's BEFORE my mid-day nap!

Thx for making me giggle!!! 1870 and nobody noticed!!! LOL

I can explain when not using this iPad.

For the Tinnitus it is something that comes and goes. It leaves for years then returns and is debilitating. Started allergy shots as it fluctuates with the seasons.

Ha, yes my skin hurts now!! If I scratch myself it takes a lot to muster up the courage to do so and let someone POKE me or touch me too hard, My skin feels like its going to burn and my instant reaction is to attack. . .lol. My friends now understand that I was not lying and not to touch my exposed skin without warning. . .

Sounds like me....VERY low tolerance to meds...even some OTC.

I've tried Lyrica, Tramacet, morphine tabs & Cymbalta....ALL with the worst experience ever. Had heart palpitations, hallucinations, unable to do a thing..just staggered around bumping into things like a zombie. The Tramacet wasn't too bad but I couldn't handle enough dosage to help me with pain. I take Aleve for pain (that's like a band-aid on an amputation-ha) 1/2 of 25mg Elavil to help with sleep. I also take a lot of supplements/vitamins. My Dr. prescribed MM for me and even though I don't use it often..this is the best painkiller & relaxer for my muscles when they are in screaming in spasm. Also helps me sleep better when the Elavil doesn't work.

Still chuckling over 1870...hahaha

Yes.....good description when you say it feels like burning. I guess it must be the nerve endings giving that sensation b/c my skin doesn't FEEL hot to the touch. Yeah..everyone knows 'do not touch' now too.

I am glad to make you two laugh! I don't do well with numbers...

I had horrible withdrawal symptoms from Cymbalta. I will NEVER take another psychotropic meds. I experienced brain zaps (yes, it literally felt like my brain was zapped for several seconds) followed by seizure-like anger outbursts which I could not control. I almost got arrested from having one in public. I complained about this to my doctor but she kept ignoring and didn't offer anything.

How do you all tolerate having blood pressure taken? I hate the automatic machine that squeezes like hell- it hurts so much that I've gotten bruises from it! The nurse doesn't even help me when I am screaming in pain. I am so sick of health care professionals telling me, "It's not that bad." or "It shouldn't hurt that much" crap. They are supposed to protect us- not injure us, and ridicule and accuse us for exaggerating pain. I don't let anyone take my blood pressure now.

Healthcare professionals should be educated and trained NOT to use that torture device on FM patients!

Oh yea I am familiar but what I do is tell them that they have to use the hand one or they are not going to take my blood pressure at all! Being that I have been to the same clinics for years and seen the same docs and nurses, they know what I will and will not do, they don't like it but they sure do have to deal with it. . .

Even the manual one hurts me depending on how much pressure they use and how well I am that moment. Since my BP has been steady (and low) as long as I've lived, I just refuse to have it taken. Then, they look at me as if I am some kind of a criminal or an insane person! (I get different people all the time) I wish they could feel my pain so they would understand. Wouldn't it be nice if doctors and nurses could actually feel what the patient is experiencing? They would be more emphathetic.

Hi Rebecca, my skin also hurts, some days cant even stand to have clothes touch it. Also get burning sensation where clothes have rubbed with angry red blotches and itching. And yes arms and legs feel so weak I can hardly lift them, but know I have to to get things done. I can walk okish for about 15 mins then the weakness hits. I now use two elbow crutches to aid walking especially if out for a while, one for short periods. I also have osteoarthritus in hip, wrists and shoulder so doesnt help. So yes it is all part of the dreaded fibro unfortunately. tc for now

Let them look…we r not crazy just in pain. I’ve bn fortunate to have the same rhuematoligist for the past 8 years so she knows my pain very well. My pain doc for the past 6 years just left the clinic and I got stuck with a woman who could care less so I stopped going…I even had the same nurse with the pain doc…same anistesiologist (?sp) …oh how I miss that place…having the same side and nurses make doc appts so much better…I js realized even the same ppl chk me in…lol but having them know me helps a lot…sorry for ur careless nurses…

I know what you mean by brain zaps. I was misdiagnosed with an illness I do not have and coming of those meds was horrible. It felt like electric shocks and my body would jerk. The meds erased several years of memories too.

Yes, my body would jerk suddenly and uncontrollably, too! and a big scream woud come out with it. You lost several years of memories from meds?!! That is unbelievable...what did your doctor say? I can hear the pharmaceuticals say to you, "It's not from our drugs - it must the fibro." A doctor would not admit to misdiagnosing, either. I've also been misdiagnosed with so many illnesses. A typical story of the fibro patients...
