Going to a new Rhumatologist

I am going to meet a new Rhum. Fibro (I hope) DoctorWhat should I do to prepare for this visit? Should I write down how I feel/symptoms etc? I seem to find it hard to discuss my health concerns with health providers as I don’t want to come across as a whiny baby patient -low self esteem (?). Thank you for your time and help Blessed Be.

Hey Becky make a list of your symptoms and how you feel the doctor will check points on your body. Speak up do not worry about those things the doctor needs to no exactly what is going on so you can get some relief. I worried when I went to my hen first rheumy cause I worked with her at the hospital but after the appointment I did not feel any better when I went back I told her every thing she said why didn't you tell me I am here to help you. Over the years I have learned to speak up.

Hi Becky,

Here is a very helpful link to information from our moderator, Renie, who worked for a Rheumatologist for 11 years, this will tell you exactly how to prepare for this visit!

Wishing you well,

SK

Thank you all very much it is so very overwhelming to think about all the aches pains and other physical/mental aspects of this condition, especially after having gone to numerous doctors and really been unable to really tell the medical profession how I really feel inside! Fingers crossed for a good rapore with new Doc. Sigh! Hugs and thanks to this list

I do not see a link and would love to check it out!

I’m someone that doesn’t like to complain and puts on that brave face. I finally went to my dr when I was having a bad flare, no makeup and all. He finally understood how I feel. List anything and everything u can think of!!!

Sorry, that was a typical fibromyalgia 'DUH' moment!

I understand! Fibro Fog is not my friend! B
