Help? Really messed up

Haha that’s so funny the way you describe it. Maybe the dose is a bit high to start you off on? Maybe try phoning the doctors?

I tried neurontin and got the same effect too. It was worse at first though and got slightly better but I didn’t get on with it. I also put weight on so fast I got awful stretch marks. They gave me the munchies so bad. Now I’m wondering what is in those things! Haha

Lots of people do get on with them though so its worth trying out. We all respond to medications differently so it makes it quite hard for the doctors. Its mostly trial and error really.

Good luck. Whilst you’re feeling a bit stoned your minds off the pain a bit I guess lol

Sorry I should have read the whole discussion first. I must have sounded like a broken record haha!!

I felt that way too. It took a few weeks for my body to adjust to it and we upped my dosage gradually over a years time. Hope it gets better for you.

Pibblemom and MrsK,

I lost my response to your situation so will try to condense it: Please make an appt and go back to your doctor about the meds if they are still bothering you. Try to leave out your emotions about the crappy meds because lots of docs act like little kids when they see you're pissed and only give you minimal care and consideration. Pretend to be a third person, like your friend, describing your symptoms to your doctor. As calmly as possible, as I think they'll work much more with you for a solution. I totally get your feelings and completely share the frustration. But try to keep the doc from seeing it and get him working on a better solution for you.

I hope you get something better by early next week. You both deserve to be given better solutions than what you currently have.

Hi Pibblemom,

I just wanted to say that I did try Gabapentin early last year and with a doctor that I later had no respect for. That aside she has started me out like you on 300mg. My symptoms were very similar to your's and I persisted for 2 days and then I called the doctor's office to tell them what I was experiencing. I also said that I was stopping the medication as I couldn't even drive to go see her for the next appointment...normally you shouldn't stop a medication without your doctor's guidance, but in my case I felt I hadn't been on it long enough and living alone I was scared.. My point is sometimes it's the dosage and/or the medication simply doesn't agree with you. I later was put on Lyrica with the present doctor I have now...who I trust completely. Medications are trial and error and what works for one person may not for another. I would discuss what you experienced and your concerns with your doctor...maybe it simply isn't the right medication for you. Good luck and be safe...I hope you will be on the right track very soon!

Hugs,
