Please advise me on the following: 1)My legs and feet seem to give me the most pain and discomfort at present. I am trying to change the shoes I wear as often as I can, but found that so far a wedge heeled shoe - only worn for a certain period - gives some relief if it is not too "heavy". Is there anyone experiencing the same and how do you deal with this?
2) I find that I have painful bumps which have formed under my skin...
3) Brain fog - I find myself having a problem with memory. Does Fibro affect short -term and long term memory?
Hi Eureka and Welcome! I have foot/ankle problems as well. I see a podiatrist who described my feet as being the flattest he's seen in a while. He treats my plantar fascia, tendonitis and arthritis and has me do PT twice a week. i do need surgery on one knee and that may be adding to the hobbled way I feel. I think the best thing I did and that I've noticed improvement from is the orthotics he gave me for my shoes. I really had to break and old habit of going without shoes (I'm living a fairly tale) But once I did, well....going barefoot is not an option any more. I guess your doc can order them but my doc just pulled some out of a drawer that we're not stiff and hard at all, very bendy and I opted for that for 40 dollars rather than the other.
I have those bumps too, mostly I find them in my arms and sometimes my legs. Been too chicken to ask what they might be, but I know what you're talking about.
And then BRAINFOG! Both short and long have been the case with me. It's been very frustrating to the point I don't know what day it is. When I ask a question I get so stressed out just thinking of my answer. Lately I spend alot of time away from everyone. Don't know how good that is for me either. Anyway friend, you are not alone...quite the opposite here. You fit right in so don't ever be afraid to ask or share. That;s what we're here for.
I have a lot of pain in my legs and some in my feet. The trigger points on the inside of each of the knees just about kill me.
If I bump my knees together in the middle of the night, it feels like an electrical shock going thru. I apply essential oils to
That area several times a day. And that pain seems to radiate down my legs to my feet. Especially the tops of them.
Yes I have the bumps on my legs also. Still need to ask my Dr. about them but just never have.
As far as shoes go, I am most comfy in a very flat shoe but I can wear a small wedge.
I too suffer with short term memory issues. Not sure if it is fibromyalgia or meds but my guess is a combo of both!
I too am very happy you found this site. It has helped me so much. Most importantly it helps to know you are not alone. This is a very safe place and it is honestly without judgement.
Thank you for sharing your personal experience in reply to my questions....I appreciate it! This just makes one more aware that though we might all be suffering with the same illness, our experiences are somewhat varied and as individual as we are!! Awesome don't you think...and this also makes me understand the reason why not one of us - will have the same medicines prescribed although we might all have the same diagnosis...
I hope you have a most blessed day and would like to know if you would include me in your circle of friends?
Hi Eureka. I have to change shoes at least twice during the day. If I wear the same pair for too long my feet will be very painful.. As for the fog, my neurologist diagnosed it as pseudo-dementia. It comes and goes a bit but it has rendered me unemployable. I can't come up with simple words frequently. My memory is about 3 nano seconds long. I once had to call my son three times from Walmart to find out what type of socks he needed. He would tell me and I would hang up the phone only to find that I had no idea what type of socks he needed.
I use a series of memory tricks to help me remember and since saying things out loud helps my dogs know everything about me.
Hi Traci, thank you for sharing your experience on this subject. Yes, I also find that I need to change my shoes - closed shoes, even if they are low-heeled - causes the most discomfort and swelling.
I will be speaking to doctor about my feet and the brain fog as well as these lumps/bumps that have formed under my skin, they are also very painful.
I have only been diagnosed early in 2011 and have been home since end 2011.
I hope you will add me to your list of friends and if you have not started your blog yet, please do. It is a good way to vent and share!!
