Everyday, I feel pain, even with a week vacation away from cold Indiana to Hot Georgia and Sunny fun-filled Disney for a day. I walked through Disney from 9am to 11pm. By the afternoon, my left knee gave out and I started limping. It got better, but suddenly my hip was in pain and I had to try sitting on cement or lying down to try and relieve the pain. It did not. I was in pain until I fell asleep. I woke up better today and I leave for Indiana at 6am.
Is this really fibro? or could it be something else? Weather doesn't help, stress relief does not help. It is like being at home, except I'm happier. Memory loss is still an issue, and I still have no pain meds right now. Tuesday starts my neurology appointments which I am nervous about. Also, friends have brought up MS to me.... I'm so lost, confused and scared....
The Rhumetologist did the trigger test and says I am almost completely on the noise for the pains.
I have been to the ER twice, first time got a shot and vicodin which did not work. the shot sent a burning sensation down my leg all night. The second time I got morphine and was dealing with a miscarriage, but the pain was still there.
They did not rule out MS or RA. No doctors are really helping and it is really depressing.... More and more each day, I feel like I need to be seated more than walking or standing...
Hey Suzzane
Have you been checked for lymes disease .If youv’e ever had a tick bite you could’ve. beeen infected. peace out, wayne
Hi Suzanne,
Well, I find that my fibro doesn't improve right away. It takes a week or so in the hot weather (60 or higher) to feel better. But it finally does feel better.
Like you, I have to be seated. Well, reclining, (with my head propped up) or partially reclining at least. I can't stand up for very long without horrific pain in the back and knees. So yes, fibro certainly can do this to you.
I agree with Lovett about making a list of your questions for your neurologist. Such as why does he/she feel that you have fibro as opposed to other illnesses?
Will he/she take any MRI's to see if you have any lesions that would indicate MS? I'm not really sure what is done to determine RA or not. I do know that MS has some pretty intense things that are unique to it, such as numbness in your limbs, eyes that move around without you purposely doing it and some pretty severe eye pain, as well as even loss of some vision. I know it's very easy to worry about symptoms that you think might be the onset of an auto-immune disease but if you get a diagnosis of fibro and nothing else, do be aware that what you're discussing as symptoms sure are fibro symptoms. Knee pain, inability to walk for very long, limping, hip pain, unrelenting pain until you get to lie down, yep, you betcha.
Keep on coming and reading and asking questions. I do think things will become clearer the longer you are seen by your doctors and the more information you get on the various illnesses.
I truly hope you're free of the other ones. Fibro is quite enough!
Hugs from a sitting position,
Petunia
I finally went to my primary doctor. I printed out several diseases that I though could be what I am suffering from instead of fibro. I always think something else is wrong with me, and always try to find my own diagnosis. I can try to explain to the doctor what is going on an then I think again. Did he understand me, was I confusing to him. appearantly my eye sight is the responsiblilty to the eye doctor, my pain is the spine doctor. I have one diseas and have to go to several doctors. that is stress right there.
In a previous conversation when I asked about seeing things in my eyes, my primary doctor told me to go to an eye doctor. He didn't say anything about it. So I sat the printed pages on the chair next to me. I hate to confuse anyone, so one at a time, I explained that I have every symptom of Hashimotos disease, I already have an inactive thyroid and it is getting worse, I'm up to 112mcg daily. I also told him that I have every symptom of the Raynaud's disease. and also brought up rhuehmatoid arthritis. I had a few of these symptoms. And two other requests, so my doctor put together it all and had me tested for those extra thryoid tests that would indicate hashimotos, and it was positive, so it doesn't change treatment but does confirm that it is the #1 reason why my thyroid is inactive. I have to call him back about the arthritis, I though he was testing me to determine which type of arthritis I have. But the other tests including lymes disease was negative, so I'm jumping in smiles at this. But then I had my knees xrayed and there is osteo arthritis in both, my right is worse than my left. Now I want to know which kind is on my spine. I am thinking that half of my pain is arthritis, I know it is there. Another doctor told me I had mild arthritis that went from the middle of my back up to the back of my head. Now if this is a big trouble maker than maybe I will want to try to just treat the arthritis to see if it gets rid of my headaches and back and neck aches, ( where the highest rate of pain exists within me, for no reason.). I always feel like I was just slammed with a bat or a piece of concrete, or something like that. I'm not sure if the weather is a big factor in my pain. Sometimes it is hard to figure out which I am suffering from each day. I think all of the illnesses take turns and are on their own schedule. I even brought up MS, but he didn't think anything of it.
Does fibromyalgia go into a remission? or do you just get control of the pain through good health habits? That is something I've always wondered. Because I had this before in my early twenties, it lasted for about five years or so, It seemed to go away after I got divorced, it would come out occasionally and let me know it was still there, but I always said to the fibro in me, Ha ha, I've got you under control!, lol. Now it has me again. If history repeats itself and I do get on top of it again, I figure that in the year 2019 I should have it under control. Only if I pursue a healthy life style.
Well I'm just pushing out what I know of myself. I don't think I can answer your question, but I don't think there is really anyway to tell most of the time. I think that I have a couple of things going on and probably experience each one daily and nightly. Maybe when one illness crosses the other one, there is more pain. Who knows, I don't, I just wonder. LOL.
The only tests done were bloodwork.
Thank you
