2022-02-18, Friday 15% - OK-ish despite pain, paperwork; interesting ‘research’
v2 16:15: Cdn’t manage 4’ of workout, but 3 games of TT without pain.
v1: Long deep night (almost 11h) with 3 passiflora added again to the antihistamine + GABA, still very awake at 4 (after 7h), solved with an alternate shower… → another 4h of sleep straight! Interesting ‘research’ on MCAS and CoV.
Triggers & resulting Symptoms
SLEEP (click for details): 10h40, up 5x (44') 🧐/✅, ➔ Feeling 80(-70)% well, Ache 2 of 7 🧐, getting up: 80%/2 🧐. Well being again wide awake and also very tired at 4 after 7h was strange, I knew I needed sleep, and I was close to it, but something again wonky. Trying an alternate shower was perfect. The other possibility GABA sublingually didn't occur to me, but I think this was better and lead to another 4h of sleep straight, so could make up for the short nights. Also Pf#3 in A4 didn't come out, didn't realize and didn't take it, either I could've taken that with Pf#4 in B1, or at 4, seeing as I knew how much sleep I was missing. The other main problem was freezing, despite the warm part, so after shower at 4/5: Always HWB.

Jab-sfx/MCAS/antihistamine:
What was the important thing I was gonna write yesterday? I’ll remember soon…
’Research’ today:
- MCAS and COVID and jabs: One of the world experts, Afrin wrote Mar21 that these may be very related, also in his anecdotal experience and still urges to take the jab after being on an MCAS regimen: General Thoughts on MCAS and Covid by Dr. Afrin - AIM Center for Personalized Medicine
On pubmed the MCAS / CoV connection is mentioned in about 5 studies, e.g.
- Mast cell activation symptoms are prevalent in Long-COVID - PubMed (US/Ge 2021, incl. Afrin & Molderings): MCAS is similar to long CoV. Mast cell activation symptoms are prevalent in Long-COVID
- Long-COVID syndrome-associated brain fog and chemofog: Luteolin to the rescue - PubMed (US/Greece 2021): luteolin might help in Long-CoV as in CFS and MCAS, similarly 2020 COVID-19 and Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome, or is it Mast Cell Activation Syndrome? - PubMed connecting Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome to MCAS, preferring luteolin and rupatadine (aaahhh!) “which also has anti-platelet activating factor (PAF) activity and inhibits mast cells that have been implicated in the pathogenesis of cytokine storms in COVID-19.” Again, I’m doing it right.
- This worldwide from 2020 was very careful: CoV may be dangerous for some with MCAS Risk and management of patients with mastocytosis and MCAS in the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) pandemic: Expert opinions - PubMed
- This US 2021 study Post-Acute COVID-19 Syndrome and the cardiovascular system: What is known? refers to above but is unsure how the connection is.
Afrin/Weinstock/Molderings 2020: Covid-19 hyperinflammation and post-Covid-19 illness may be rooted in mast cell activation syndrome Covid-19 hyperinflammation and post-Covid-19 illness may be rooted in mast cell activation syndrome. -
https://www.healthrising.org/forums/resources/mast-cell-activation-disease-the-modern-epidemics-of-chronic-illness-afrin.338/: Spin off from luteolin
- Other ‘research’: - Atorvastatin interaction with antihistamines? This Egyptian study from 2018 shows no problems, rather the atorvastatin is also immunomodulatory! Role of Atorvastatin in Treatment of Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria Patients: A Controlled Clinical Trial - PubMed (I thought I’d read it’d be difficult taking a statin with an antihistamine, but can’t find that anywhere)
- Hyperlipidemia with MCAS? If at most triglycerides.
- Glutamine helps histamine intolerance, as it refers here Mast Cell Activation Syndrome with Dr. Lawrence Afrin to a Chinese study from 2016 Effects of glutamine on markers of intestinal inflammatory response and mucosal permeability in abdominal surgery patients: A meta-analysis - PubMed. However it also decreases DAO: “CRP, TNF-α, and IL-6 in patients supplemented with Gln [= glutamine] were significantly lower than those in control patients, whereas the levels of IL-2 receptor were increased by Gln supplementation. Gln also significantly decreased the lactulose/mannitol ratio, the levels of diamine oxidase and endotoxin, and tended to decrease the levels of cyclic D-lactic acid”. However does the decrease in cytokines outbalance the decrease in DAO…!? (Spinoff from hyperlipidemia with MCAS.)
- Ruscio’s webpage above also starts with “And, here is the kicker… [MCAS] doesn’t require extensive lab testing nor expensive treatments for many cases.” Well… not sure of that…
“there really is no system in the body which is immune, so to speak, to potentially being affected by this disease, not even the immune system.” Yup.
Lessons in self-care #227 Watched for not overdoing it, apart from the video meeting with mates…
