Lyrica

I heard it helps with fibromyalgia of course and even seizures.... but in the way it helps with fibro doesit like calm a hurting stomache? there were days i missed and when i did take it my stoamche didnt hurt..the first few times it did that i didnt put the peices together. Can anyone help me.. oh and another thing ive had days where id sleep all day or just when im jsut sleeping overnight even in this cold sleeping with a comforter that is the only thing in the house to keep me warm enough i dont spazz well i wake up sweating like no ones business so ive been sleepign my jasut my pants and sports bras but i cant understand this even in the dang winter, anyone done with my rant thanks for everyones support

i think the sweats r from the meds. i have the same problem. but now that winter is here i have my vent in my room closed cause it gets too hot and when its not below zero i crack my window just a tiny bit and i make sure i have extra blankets if i get too cold. my mom thinks i am nuts for cracking my window but i cant sleep if my room is not cool eenough.

check what side effects yoour meds have. if u want send me a list of what u r on and i will look in my moms nursing med book. it has all the side effects and underlines the side effects that occur most often. it a great book it it also breaks down the side effects into catergiories which make it easier to find what i need to know.

i also sleep with a fan all year. not just for noise but to keep me cool.

I was on Lyrica for about three months but it had major side affects on me, possibly because I am on a lot of other meds. It definitely worked for pain, but instead of sleeping 12-14 hours a day, on Lyrica I needed to sleep 20 hours, it also didn’t work for my stomach problems, gained weight ( which I didn 't need) and caused some other issues. I’ve heard it works really well for some people. Off Lyrica I’m usually cold even in the summer, but I do get hot sweaty flashes, sometimes during the day, but mainly at night, although I’m long past menopause. This happens sometimes when my blood sugar is too low (I’m diabetic) and other times my doctor thinks that I still have a lot of estrogen in my body. I really hate those sweaty nights, my window is always cracked, although I have a heavy quilt. You may want to get this checked out as it could be an underlying symptom of something else.

Hello Corinne

First you must remember that we are not doctors nor are we trained medical pratitioneers. So you must discuss this with your doctor. What we can do is tell you how a certain med affected us, whether good or bad and your doctor is the opne who should advise you concerning this particular med. What I can tell you is that I have never taken Lyrica so I don't know how it might act in my body. Our bodies do not react with meds the same way.

Gentle hugs

Rachel

Hi Cori, Nice to meet you. After reading your profile, wanted to let you know what a inspiration you are to many of us. Here I have been complaining of my pains and you are 21 yrs old with so much going on in your life, all I can say is WOW. I am on Cymbalta as well and my doc tried to add Lyrica to my cocktail of meds and it didn't help me, so he just increased my Cymbalta. But remember we all take to medicine so differently. Something may work great for you and not even help me at all. I also have a bad issue of sweats, I'll just come out of a shower and start sweating right away. I have to agree with Stephanie, I really think its all the meds. I don't know if you take any Niacin, I do and my Dr. told me that makes me sweat more, go figure. I really hope the Lyrica works for you. Keep us posted, Gentle Hugs, Robin

I feel for you. I have tried Lyrica and had a very bad experience with it. It kind of zombified me and I had bouts of amnesia. Gapapentin seems better for my own personal use. Just monitor how you are feeling.

Corinne how have you been ?? I was just thinking about you last night and thought I have to send you a message and say hi, then I saw your discussion and thought I’d say hi, I can’t really say much about Lyrica because both times I tried it I broke out in a rash… So I wish I could help ans your question, but I’m a Savella girl, that has helped me more than anything.
I would talk to your dr. About this.
Hope your doing well…
Hugs & blessings

Oh Corinne,

Your life story is so inspiring. How can you be so strong mentally at your young age? I don't know but you are impressive.

I did some research on the internet and couldn't find anything linking Lyrica to calming an aching stomach. That doesn't mean it can't be happening for you; i just couldn't find anything helpful on that topic.

I also agree with Stephanie in that your sweats could be due to your meds. Do you also take Cymbalta? i forget whether you do or don't but a lot of people complain about it causing the sweats.

You just keep on trucking, girl. i can't wait to hear about you walking without the walker one of these days.

Impressed,

Petunia

I just want to give you my story about Lyrica...

I was started on it when they were thinking I was suffering with fibromyalgia. I took it for approx 5 months. It certainly helped with my pain but I gained 70 pounds and didnt care about life at all. Everything was just "wonderful" but meanwhile my life was falling apart around me. My legs were swelling to approx 4+ pitting edema and remained that way for a year after stopping lyrica.

I dont remember any specific side effects just that I didnt care about life AT ALL.

I hope that this medication works for you but my warning to people is to be careful.

Hi!

I have been taking Lyrica 150 mg three times a day, and so far it has helped my pain ... but, not enough. I do get a little drowsy at times, but I don't fall asleep or anything. My only complaint is that I have gained weight. I haven't eaten more food! I also sweat at night, but it hasn't been a major issue yet. I go to the pain management doc in a few weeks. I hope he can figure out what can help me, so I can productive in life again.

Hugs!

Susan
