Share What Works For You

Sk,

Well put. My mom use to have a saying when I was a kid. It was "grin and bear it" She was not that patient with our complaints. We had chores and they were going to get them done no matter what.

She has a great sense of humor. She has been more compassionate towards me in recent years- when I am down she is very supportive and listens. She is 75 yrs old and I do realize soon she will be gone but hopefully not too soon.

I am sorry to hear about your brother. I cannot imagine losing a sibling or any family member to that. He must of suffered for a while.

Hi Sunflower72,

I tried to do exercise in October and only ended up torturing myself because I got carried away. I was in pain for several weeks (every joint) and said the hell with it.

My son had his body mass index done recently and he is overweight. He does not look that big. I encouraged him to choose an activity he enjoys and he chose biking (I walk). We started at 20 minutes every other day and have gradually worked up to an hour with a break in between. It took several weeks. Now I am hooked. I am paying more attention to the sugar grams on the food labels. On two days of the week our friends join us. So far the pain has been minimal.

Hi Mike,

Very interesting, I have seen this info and often wondered how well it would work.

Was this given by Dr or did you add it? Did you tell/ask Dr about taking it? Is it possible that you could need a stronger dose for your weight/tolerance?

You are the very first person I have known to have tried this, it could be crucial info for us all!

Thanks for that info, hope you are having a wonderful day!

Big hugs to my 'Bud'!

SK

Thank you Dozer, I am so fortunate to have them both, I miss my baby brother more than words could ever convey, but I did everything I could for him and so did my Mom, my husband was wonderful too!

SK

I will definitely try it. I’ll let you know what happens.

Hi Dozer,
That gives me encouragement to try exercising every other day. I used to love to walk twice a day. I lost a lot of weight just walking. I admit to being a sugar addict. Do you have any recommendations on how to beat sugar cravings?

From medication to concoctions to pet therapies... Wow! This site is a virtual goldmine! I wonder how I can document all of these to share with the rest of our patient communities.

Thank you all and keep it coming!

Hi Sunflower,

I have been eating more fruit. Oranges and mangos are my favorite. I like smoothies and I put honey or a little sugar in them. I think if you feel devilish, some whip cream on top. I did not want to give up on cookies completely so I found some sugarless cookies. I still enjoy some sweets like brownies. But they say there health benefits to chocolate.

I don’t like taking meds so I don’t. I’ve found I’ve had mire side effects that make coping hard from the meds than what I experience from a flare up. I watch what I eat…eat more fruits n veggies…less sugar, meat and breads…I exercise (when I can)… I try to get a good nights sleep and soak in hot baths. Some days I suffer where I am sure medicine can possibly help but I won’t take it so I keep my mental self calm and decrease stress in life. Yoga is a great friend…helps a lot.

Oh midol is a med that if I absolutely cannot cope will do the trick…its for cramps…sure but it helps a ton for my pain on unbearable days.
