Who has found a good medication or therapy that helps with fatigue? I get B12 shots with folic acid and this helps some, but it's not enough.
Hi Azily,
I had such a problem with crushing fatigue that my Internist gave me a coupon and a script for a free trial of Nuvigil back in September. After getting it home and doing some research, I decided not to try it at that time, I'm kind of saving it for now, so I am just not sure how well it works, but it's something to talk to your Doctor about. He said it is used for patients with MS.
Hope you can find some relief from this, it's so debilitating!
Wishing you well,
SK
Corvalen D-Ribose helps me.
I don't know the answer...I'm just going to glean as much as I can from the posts...anxious to learn how to deal with this!
Sleep in the only thing that works for me :(
I would love to know as well its not like meto always be so tired
It's not like any of us used to be. But it sure is how a lot of us are now, unfortunatley.....
Hi Azlily,
I wish I could say I knew of a cure but am still struggling to find something that works for me. Very interested to hear if anyone else has had any luck with anything.
Hi,
I also tried the Nuvigil for a month. It did seem to help but as far as I know it's basically a form of meth. and then it wasn't approved by my insurance and it is very expensive. So, for those two reasons I decided it wasn't for me. Who gives you the B12 shots? I found that taking B vitamins orally seems to really help, I have never has a B12 shot, would like to try that. I don't know what, if any, meds you are on but I am taking a break from a large daily dose of Cymbalta and Lyrica, had to go cold turkey on those as my insurance doesn't want to pay for them either! I have found that although I have increased nerve pain at times, my energy level is MUCH better. I take Skelaxin and synthroid for low thyroid and that is it for now, oh and lots of Advil. Just some thoughts from me, we are all different.
Tramadol takes the edge off sometimes… Not enough for me to be able to function… But at least a I can get a little relief. Hot baths help me some also!
My daughter found a great remedy from a Dr. who is a Dr and a scientist and researcher who specializes in diseases that have fatigue as their base.go towww.endfatigue.com . My daughter went into remission by using D-Ribose, which is a chemical in our bodies that people with fibro are low on. It helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to each cell individually. It also helps pain and brainfog because when any part of the body is not getting oxygen, it hurts, spasms and does not function well. So even internal organs will not work well without enough oxygen. You have to take it for 3 weeks before you really notice a huge change. It takes that long to get the right level of D-Ribose in your system. The D in the name also is the D for DNA, so we need this chemical to even rebuild cells and recover from exertion. He sells a certain brand on his website, but you can get it much cheaper at www.iherb.com.
For fibrofog and concentration and memory problems, I've found that ginkgo biloba and/or ginseng helps a ton!
shiela,
thanks for the D-Ribose information. I will try this as I am exhausted. Do most people with fibromyalgia have other stuff going on?
I was diagnosed after a sever traumatic injury. Since that time, 12 years ago I have had one disease and complication after another. I am allergic to Lyrica and many other things so I am looking for I am also a diabetic now and have some concerns about this treatment as the information for D-Ribose states it is a form of sugar.
Can you give me a little more info anybody?
Anna, please check with your doctor before trying it. Our well-meaning information still may not be enough to determine whether this particular remedy may be appropriate for you, especially given the diabetes.
anybody have any information on what works good for pain?
I am allergic to Lyrica and asprin and nsaids etc. I have a very limited list and I am currently on a list to get Radio Frequency treatments in the areas near my spine which helps with some of the pain, but of course only some.
The medial branch blocks and the Rhizotomy or Radio Frequency procedures are very painful, but help relieve some of the pain in areas of my neck and spine affected.
I even thought of moving to a state that ok'd medical marijuana so I could get some relief. I don't want to smoke or get high, just would like to maybe take a marijuana pill and not hurt so bad.
I know caffeine doesn’t cure my fatigue, in fact it makes everything worse for me. I have to pace myself and try not to do too much in one day or one week. I am extremely sensitive to foods and find that those that can be inflammatory can do me in.
Donna, you should like me. I have to be really careful with how much I do. I have 26 known food sensitivities, and if I cheat, I pay big time. It causes a lot of inflammation, pain, and I have horrible acid reflux:( I get really tired too because my body is trying to fight off the foods.
I also do D-Ribose. Tried some of them and have a favorite brand.
Can I ask how much ginkgo you take?
I have been reading all the responses. My fatigue is so much more of a problem than the pain. I have found that I can work puzzles or engage in things that keep my brain so busy it doesn't really have the ability to process the pain. I know it sounds crazy but it works for me. Now back to the fatigue, I am really at the end of my rope. I feel lazy because I don't have the energy to do anything. I will talk with my doctor about the supplements and see if that helps. It is just so comforting to know that others feel as I do. Has anyone ever tried to be in a research program our local hospital is doing a trial study for fibro. I was thinking of trying it. I have multiple allergies and am half afraid to try things that are new. Well anyway, prayers for all. Hope someone finds a solution soon.
I also have problems with fatigue! I have been late for work multiple times because I have a super hard time getting up in the morning. Most days the fatigue is harder for me to deal with than the pain, not that I don’t experience pain every day but I too have found that I can distract myself from the pain by keeping my mind busy. Tje fatigue on the other hand is not so easy. I also do not get go quality sleep at night either which doesn’t help. I am on Cymbalta which has helped me a little with sleep. I have not found anything that
helps me with the fatigue during my day. I cannot do a lot of caffine cause of some heart issues; I have also read that caffine can make fibro symptoms worse. For me right now I have just been dealing with it the best I can; it catches up with me after a while and I wind up having to take a “rest day” as I now call them where I just take a day and rest. I will sleep most of the day and just let my body rest. I have FMLA at work so that if I need this time on a day that I have to work I can take the time. This is not the way I would like to handle my fatigue but for now this is all I have found that works. Best of luck.
