This Thanksgiving, I'm Thankful For

In America, this Thursday is Thanksgiving. We spend the day thinking about what we are grateful for and also eating a lot of turkey and pie. :)

I thought it would be fun to start a discussion on what we're all thankful for. I'll get it going:

I'm thankful that my wonderful girlfriend, Vanessa, accepted my marriage proposal last weekend. We're all smiles here. :)

I'm also thankful that this community exists and helps so many people. We started Ben's Friends (www.bensfriends.org) 6 years ago and now over 80,000 patients and loved ones visit all 35 sites every month. It's truly a little Internet miracle.

I'm grateful for the community, the friendships and especially thankful that the volunteer moderators donate so much of their time to help others. Thank You Mods!

Ok, that's what I'm thankful for. How about you? Let us know below.

I am so grateful for all of you, whether or not we've crossed paths here already or not. You all validate me and that is huge. Gods Blessings to you and yours!

This Thanksgiving is one that we(my family) will be smiling at the table in comparison to last years where my Son Patrick was able to singlehandedly bring us all down. He had been the victim of a hit and run, pedestrian vs. vehicle at @ 60 mph.

And while the rest of us were so grateful to even have him home/alive, the sadness over what this crime had taken from him had him devastated and plain and simple...he wished he hadn't survived.

This year even he says this one will be so special for him because he see's the blessings and though he has a long recovery still ahead of him, he looks at it with joy...he's alive, he has his legs, he can walk.

I am so grateful for my amazing family. My Mother made it through a leg amputation and is thriving at 85 years old. My younger Sister is still here with us after almost losing her to deadly anemia with a hemoglobin of 2.2. She is sitting right here next to me while I write this. My family is healthy, we're all warm and toasty up on this snowy hill thanks to an outdoor wood-burner that we saved and scrimped for thus cutting our ties to the high cost of propane! Huge!

So many more, so many blessings! My heart is full and I feel loved...I pray Thanksgiving is one of joy, for you and yours...and that you "feel the love" as well.

I'm attaching, for those of your that have sunny Holidays, a picture of the snowy woods that is our yard...enjoy!

I am soooo thankful for this forum!! I don;t get by as often as I would like, but I pray for everyone here every single day. I hope and pray everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Gentle Hugs, Kimberly :)

I'm thankful for the people in my life, in particular my daughter, my ex-wife and my poodle (yes, he is a person!). I'm thankful that I've come closer to achieving some goals I set out for myself in the beginning of the year. I'm thankful for the wonderful people in this group who have helped me through the year and for the existence of this group which has allowed me to share my experiences and knowledge as well as take from others when I needed it.

I'm thankful that I still have fight left in me because with all the hits I've taken, it would have been easy to have simply given up. I'm thankful that there are enough distractions that keep me occupied so I am not concentrating soley on the pain and fatigue that infest every aspect of my life. Among those are the fine folks who bring us prime-time TV, when TV's brightest stars come out to shine.

As silly as it sounds, I would like to thank AMC for bring zombie's to the mainstream. For years, I was a fan of zombies, a small niche which never really caught on. However, AMC launched a small show four years ago and suddenly, I am an expert in a genre that occupies that #1 spot on American TV. See folks, it changes that quickly!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

As for me, I am mostly thankful that I am surrounded with friends and family who are willing to extend the extra effort to make me comfortable during these family events. I am not expected to help chop wood or something, just be there as a part of the family. It was a great day, for this and many more things, I am so very thankful.

I’m thankful my family was all able to be together today. My brother can’t last much longer, but that’s what they said 6 months ago. He’s stubborn. My precious nephew loves his aunt. I am thankful. My sil didn’t try to start something political with my father. She fell asleep. I’m thankful. My mother cooked her last Thanksgiving meal. I’m thankful for her health not my tummy. She’s a great cook.

I’m thankful for Tim who comes walking down the hall when he hears me say peppermint oil into the baby monitor, when he cleans up the kitchen, vacuums, or goes and buys groceries. I’m thankful when he comes in my room to watch TV or kiss me goodnight. I like it when other women flirt with him because it shows I have good taste! lol

I am thankful for my dogs. I wonder if they’d turn upside down also. Hahaha one ha for each dog. My dogs have brought me so much comfort over the years. I can’t remember when I haven’t had a dog.

I’m thankful that my brother and me took pictures with Santa up through our 20s. Moma found the pics and had them out yesterday for my nephew, Tim, and sil to see. It was a lot of fun then.

I’m thankful for the opportunities I’ve been given in life that I’ve sometimes taken for granted. I’ve been fortunate. I lived. I’m thankful for those memories. I’m thankful for my caring doctors, for good insurance, for meds that work, and don’t allow me to forget the many nurses who have helped me.

I am really thankful for finding this site. I have learned so much, made friends, and finally know I’m not too crazy. Thanks guys.

Scott, congrats!

After reading everyone’s letters of gratitude - I have a huge smile on my face! It’s so refreshing to read of the wonderful families, moments and simple things we’ve come to appreciate. It is a wonderful life…even though we live in bodies that put us through so much.

I’m thankful for many of the same things that are shared here; family, a roof overhead, good friends, my two granddaughters that are my sunshine, the ever-supportive fibro family and the Internet so that we can talk to each other all over the world!

I’m also thankful I can afford a laptop on Black Friday so my picture won’t be upside down much longer! My iPad won’t do everything. They were really cheap. I’ve needed one but couldn’t afford one. I’m thankful for all the sleep I got after Thanksgiving.

Scott, this is wonderful news! Congrats to you and best wishes to Vanessa! May you have MANY happy and healthy years together! I'm so glad I saw this!

I am thankful for the day spent with my mom, my husband, and son, and all the grand kids! We went out to eat, then over to their house, and my mom held and fed her new great, great grand daughter!

I am most thankful for the strength that I have found, I'm having to dig VERY deep for it, to get my mom through this difficult time with the broken hip. She is in danger of needing a very complicated hip replacement surgery if this does not heal properly, if the rod does not slip anymore. We will know more on the 12th!

I am also very thankful for all of the caring, knowledgable, friends I have found here on Ben's Friends!
