The letters get small then large then small again. I have enough trouble seeing with these old glasses !! On that note, I’ll leave a couple of warped quotes/jokes…LOL
I just hate it when Walmart doesn’t have what I need and I have to go home and change out of my pajamas so I can go to Target!
Sometimes I wonder if 2020 is getting even with me because I didn’t forward that email to 10 people!
My goal in 2020 is to accomplish the goals I set in 2019 which I should have done in 2018 because I made a promise in 2017 which I planned in 2016.

I had my computer guy here and he claimed to have fixed it but it’s still acting up. The font size keeps changing from 90 at its lowest up to 120! I want it to stay at 120 but it does what it wants to. Then it will freeze while I’m writing or looking at something. At times, on other sites, it will just keep me out and tell me to reload. I’m not sure how to fix any of this. I’ve run my CC cleaner 3 times! I’ve cleaned out my cookies, etc… to no avail!!!
I haven’t been on in a few days as I’m having serious tooth pain and it makes me irritable! I can’t get into the dentist’s office until February 4th! I just ordered some clove oil. I’m going through anbesol like crazy as well as salt!

I’m so sorry about the tooth pain - That can be unbearable! Wow - Feb 4th is a LONG time to wait to see a dentist! I sure hope the pain calms down or they can work you in. Sending hugs & prayers, my friend
gramybear, I just looked these strange spontaneous font-changes up, out of interest. I didn’t find a clear answer, but you’re not alone: I see a lot of people complaining about this, especially with Windows 10 and with HP-laptops (but also Acer).
The only thing which is supposed to have “helped 29 people” is this
“For example, you can quickly adjust the size if you press Ctrl while you scroll your mouse or touchpad. You can also adjust the size by “pinching” on a laptop touchpad (similar to zooming into a picture on a iPhone or ipad). I often see people unaware of this and so as they touch the touchpad with their arm or wrist it changes and they aren’t sure why it’s happening.”
I doubt it’ll help you, cos of the the other issues.
Another suggestion, claiming to have helped 6 people, is to do an SFC-scan, but that’s something for your computer guy. Did he watch you/see the problem himself?
I do have a laptop and I do have Windows 10!!! There are 3 dots on the top right side of my computer that I go to frequently to get the font back to 100 or 110. Anything smaller is too small and anything larger is way too big! LOL
I have the touchpad turned off. I cannot use one, I have to use the old fashion mouse! I’m so used to typing all these years and can’t imagine having to only use a touchpad! I type about 75 words a minute but backspace about 40 times!! Thank you for the information, I do appreciate it!!!
Usually, when my computer freezes, kicks me out and tells me to reload, I’m on Facebook, and Facebook does not like me! LOL, No, surprise there! A say what scan? SFC? I’ve never heard of it. Plus, my computer guy who was in the Navy for 20 years, worked on computers while in the service and he goes really fast and I have NO IDEA what he is doing!! I’ve thought about taking a beginner class on learning how to get around but I don’t have a car to get to the class and I don’t have the money. My oldest son taught himself but knowing me, I’ll mess something up royally!!

I’ve researched a LOT on google to help me use my computer functions and work more efficiently. Any time I’ve received a new computer, or had updates, over the last 35 years, no one actually “trains” me to use the new items, so I’ve had to learn myself. (I get training if we have a complicated new office computer program, where we keep our electronic files, but that’s about it!) There is a lot you can learn just by typing your question (or problem) in “google” or whatever search engine you use. Your computer should also have a place in Outlook (your email program) to type in questions, as well. JSC knows a LOT more about computers than me - I’m sure he’ll be a better help than I ever could! Just thought I’d throw my 2 cents in, for whatever it’s worth!
Hold on a minute: Facebook? Don’t take it personally - altho Facebook takes your personality ;-). Fb has a lot of things running at the same time. I assume you’re using Edge for the Web? And Edge is the newest update? Then from what I’ve read try going on Facebook only with Chrome or Firefox (or if need be Internet Explorer, altho not updated any more). If you like Edge you could do everything else with it, just not facebook. Howzat?
HUH? … I am not good with electronics, especially a computer… or a cell phone… Well, pretty much anything electronic! LOL…My computer opens up in google but I do have Edge, I’m just not sure how to use it or if it’s better or worse or what? My computer guy doesn’t understand that I have some learning disabilities and some things take me longer than others, to learn. I hate FB but I have family on there, some very important friends and I like playing a couple of games. I’m open to any suggestions on what I need to do with my computer!!! Just have to be patient with me!! PS. Thank you
Hehe - no problem. 90% of computer guys I know have autistic learning disabilities and will never understand/empathize/adapt to that normal people aren’t squirrels, or that they feel like squirrels in traffic when learning computer stuff. (Oops, I hope none’s listening… In case you are: present company excepted )
Bear with me too, cos I “hate”=don’t use FB, incl. whatsapp, google (loved them in the 90s) and M$ Windows, so I may have to look at things at work if I miss a step.
But for a start: If your computer “opens up in google”, that will mean your “standard browser” for accessing the internet is google Chrome (icon: a red yellow & green ball around a blue spot). That is apparently normally better for your problem than Edge. But you could still try Edge first. Just open the windows logo down left, find Edge and click on it. When it opens, type in “facebook” in the same way as you do in google (Chrome), log in and see how long it works before you have to reset the computer.
Second I’d try Firefox (a round red fox-icon) which you probably have to download, if you’ve never seen it anywhere before. In the search bar of google (Chrome) search for “firefox download”. The first links will be on ‘mozilla’, the “company” which develops firefox. Click on there. Click on “download” firefox. Up right of google Chrome the download will be shown. Click on there. Say yes to install, if necessary. Then if it doesn’t open directly, open it from the windows logo. Again, type facebook in the search bar of firefox.
Compare how long it takes before your computer freezes in google (Chrome), in Edge and in Firefox and use the one that’s best for you…
