I don't sleep much either sometimes for days. I try to read. Even with Ambian I am not sleeping. Latest bout has been 3 days without more than 2 hrs. I have no one to cuddle with and no help. My neighbors are rude and their barking dogs and constant noise keeps me up and no one will help me. I have ear plugs and a fan but my ears hurt so much from the ear plugs and now are so tender that I can't even touch the inside of them. If you find a way to sleep let me know too.
I understand. I either wrap a thick scarf around my head or tighten a hoodie on.
Robin, it amazes me how many of us do NOT sleep & are still alive. I take Temazepam, lay back in my sleeper bed (recliner), try calming thoughts, cross stitch, TV low volume, & wait & wait & wait. Sometimes sleep. LOTS of times not sleep. I think our brains have a short circuit in them.
Doctors tell me not to sleep during the day. It's to the point I DO take a nap during the day.
My husband & I have not slept in the same bed in about 4 years. I miss the closeness we shared. Now I take the hugs & words of reassurance. He's a very kind man.
In the beginning of the diagnosis he didn't understand how emotional Fibromyalgia makes me. Now, he is such a comfort. It took about 8 years of aggravation & lots of pain before I was given a label (diagnosis) for this.
Many days my skin is so sensitive I don't wear daytime clothes. Many times I am very depressed, etc. Our list just continues & grows.
I hope you at least get a nap tonight. Remember to laugh really hard at something tomorrow. We have to make light of what we can these days. It does help many times.
I appreciate the support we get here. My prayers go out to all on this site.
I'm so sorry to hear you go through this Robin.
I've had this battle since i was a kid. When i was a teen I mostly slept during the day. The evenings were my awake time with my family and I'd read the night away. Now tho like you I can't read. I do retain (sometimes) but its concentration. There are times when even tv is hard. It doesn't seem to have a rhyme or reason when it comes to that. About five years ago the sleep was so bad I went to sleep clinic and was diagnosed with Chronic insomnia (Which i already knew) but essentially it wasn't apnea or anything of that nature. Just that I wasn't able to stay asleep or een reach all stages of sleep the way I should. I'm certain its the fibro.
Pain is a constant companion and I know its one reason I struggle to fall asleep or stay asleep. To help me i take over the counter sleep aid. I can't take prescription ones, as they mess me up. I've had everything from being totally out of it for days too breathing issues from meds. The OTC one helps enough to help me get to sleep and when I wake I do fall back a sleep easier then I would with out it. It's not perfect. Sometimes it barely works and often it takes hours to kick in. still have a lot of lousy nights and rarely if ever sleep a solid four hours. That to me is a good night.
I can function on the six hours (of interrupted sleep). I've come to the point where I am use to it. Only problem with ti is i'm always tired.. Occasionally I have to stop taking the otc in order to become unaccustomed to it. Every now and then its like it isn't working at all and I will have a whole week of almost no sleep. I become the walking dead then.
For me with all my pain i find if i drink something warm before bed I heat up muscles so they are less sore. (like facial and neck muscles) .. i have a memory foam pillow which I love..can't sleep without and I sleep best if i can keep my temp at a good medium. Also a drink for dry mouth. Wish I could say more but unfortunately sleep is a battle I've had for years. I've come to the point where I feel real sleep is a myth.
*hugs*
Robin, thus far I haven't had this problem too much but I want you to know that I'm sorry you're in pain at night. Insomnia alone s***s. The few times I've had pain added in, I didn't do much of anything besides cuddle with the dogs. So you're waaaay ahead of me, girl.
Oh, there IS one thing I do that always puts me to sleep...reading the Daily Mail, a Brit paper. There is so much crammed in to the site that my eyes get tired and close pretty soon, once I start reading it.
I hope you're comfy tonight with your 4 dogs and not in pain, able to sleep.
Thanks Whisper, I never thought about a sound machine and I have it on 2 clocks here. It's not silly at all, they do this for babies too. Makes since. Hope you have a great weekend. Hugs, Robin
Hi Capefibro, It sure sounds like you are pretty good at this lol. I tried Ambien and no luck. It's great you are able to work and volunter.Maybe one day soon I'll be back to work to. Thanks for sharing. Hugs, Robin
Hi Trix, I know you have your hands full. I don't know how you mom's with young children do it. I shouldn't complain, you girls are all super moms... Hope you have a nice weekend. Hugs, Robin
Lol sounds just like me Wendy :)
I LOVE me heating blankets. They are almost my best friend... They do help me, Shaylynn...
Thanks DLP, The Dr. and I will figure out something soon I hope :)
Hi, I have ~PARASOMNIA~ I am afraid to sleep at night because I get Night terrors...and during the day (when I love to sleep) at times I get daymares..so its a damn struggle to sleep for me...the only time I really get a good rest is when my CFS kicks in....then I can sleep up to 30 hrs of sleep. So in the rare times when I really want to sleep at night and can't....they say your not suppose to lay there tossing and turning...so I get out of bed and do something that will shut down my active mind...so I EAT...lol...seriously...I eat something HOT!!!!! Eating always makes me sleep like a baby afterwards...that is why I can never go out for a nice dinner...cuz it never fails right after I eat I am like a newborn baby...I fall right to sleep...lol...hhhahahahahaha. Sorry I know not being able to sleep is no laughing matter...I was just imagining myself in a BIG HIGH CHAIR noddin off...lol...babies look so cute when they do that.
Try some soup...it usually works...something HOT!!! I hope your sleeping gets better for you...as for me I just learned to accept the fact that I am a night hawk so I stop fighting it...I just do not function in the mornings!!
All The Best!!!

Hi Mirkat, I never thought of a sleeping mask. I am going to have to try that. Hugs, Robin
Oh no Tricky I sure as heck hope I don't have to wait 7yrs to get 5-6 hours of sleep. My family already calls me a walking zombie, can you imagine all the names they will come up with in the time. I am in trouble lol... I am really glad you are getting some rest now. Hugs, Robin
Hmm Tricky, thought I was seeing doulbles. Love your name :)
Hi Karen, I am suppose to try accupunture but I have been a whimp. Is it bad? My hubby just got me a new tea to try, I have tried a few with no sucess. Let me know how things are working for you. Thanks, Robin
Good Morning Bernie, You made me laugh with happy dreams because this past week I have had some really wierd dreams and I don't think it's from my meds. I stopped taking the lastest sleeping pill that was prescribe. waiting to go bacck to the doctors soon to try another. Happy Dreams to you :)
I know about crying Boratsmom. When you are so tired it seems like thats all we can do, we are tuckered out. Hope the Melatonin works for you...
SK, Bless your heart I sure don't know how you got through this past week. I really do hope you are feeling okay. I must admit I am a bit jealous of those new wood floors. I had red oak and had a flood in the house and after smelling the wet floors for a few days I made the bad choice of putting tile down. It's so cold not warm like the wood. Try to stay warm... Gentle Hugs, Robin
Hi Dawn, My Dr. told me I shouldn't watch tv or be on any electronics 2hours before I try to sleep. It still didn't make a difference with me. Hope you have a great weekend, Robin
