Anyone have problems with clothing?

ok i will check that out thanks :)

Hi River - Laurie again!! (smile) I am happy that you are going to see your doctor. It could be and entirely different thing than Neuropathy. It's just that some of what you are going through sounds like what I have.I am anxious to know what you are going through. Hope you share with group after you see your doctor! Ok?? Love Laurie

Hi River,

Welcome to the club and I am sorry about the diagnosis. I hope you have a good doctor who knows about fibro. You might want to invest in some books on Fibro. I have one called, "Fibromyalgia, Up close and Personal" by Dr. Marc Pelligrino. He is an MD who has fibro. It is a nice book that covers many topics.

I had a problem with my skin where I would feel a intense burning sensation all over just under the skin. It was terrible and some nights I would cover myself with ice packs. It took some time to realize that it was nerve pain (Neuropathy). Once I started Lyrica the pain went away. SO look for subtle changes in this problem you are having. Is it neuropathy? Could it be dry skin? Fibro is a complex illness. Good luck...we are here for you

Blessings, Ladies! I was able to read all your comments. . . clothes - one of the reason I do not go out, specially it it will be for more than two hours. . . I can't stand the elastic - I get lumps - and they are very itchy and uncomfortable - I can't wear bras/undies. Lately I bought boy shorts, which are cotton and go easier on my skin. . . some days I am itching specially the upper part of my body - I take an allergy pill to help me because it is very uncormfortable for me. . . I am home - now I just wear robes, dusters, etc. . . I shop a lot at Woman's Within and One Stop Plus. . . I like their bargains. . . my feet get very uncomfortable during the night - I also have to be touching something very soft - cotton - they burn, they are itchy. . .I sweat a lot during the night even though I am cold. . . I am always sweating. . . unless I am completely still. . . I had to buy a memory foam mattress because I could not stand the springs. . . it helped a lot. . . I changed to the light microfiber blankets. . . thank God I can still stand them. . . since my shoulders hurt a lot I could not handle the heavier blankets. . . I am thinking of changing to a hypoallergenic detergent and not use the sheets when I dry my clothes. . . I hope that helps. . . Thank you, Ladies, for all your advise - I thought I was the only one with the clothes problem. . . Now that I am getting less migraines, the lumps on my head are going away. . . now I have Maxalt for when the migraines start I can take it right away. . . amazingly it worked very well for me. . . Take care. . . I love you all . . . have a "pain" free day - Irma

I've been like the Princess and the Pea my whole life lol. I jut found out that my sensitivity is probably due to Ehlers Danlos Syndrome which is a genetic connective tissue disorder that causes the body to make bad collagen. There isn't a part of the body that doesn't have collagen in it, according to the PT I see. I look a lot younger than I am and my skin is very soft and smooth because of the HEDS. I have the hypermobile type, that's why it's H-EDS. When I was a kid, we didn't know why I needed the tags cut out of my clothes sometimes or would only sleep with certain sheets and blankets or complained loudly when things touched me. Hypersensitive skin and other issues just made my family think I was weird but they loved me anyway. It turns out that I just had EDS more severely than others who probably have it too as we see lots of other signs in our family.

Hi River - I emailed you a little while ago. and again, I want to say how sorry I am that you are hurting. I go through the same thing at night. My bed sheets don't bother me, but If I should grab a blanket, then within a few minutes, I start getting uncomfortable, When it's cold and snowing, it's a problem because I get so cold - but yet can't stand to have anything heavy on me Either way, I can't win! Take care! Laurie

know how that is laurie and im sorry im still getting used to how the site works and such i didnt miss u on purpose i promise

i will keep u updated with what doc says for sure cuz this is very very annoying and he did say it will go into remission again but noone knows when that will be if ever and its irritating

if i buy a sweater i usually get a cheap cotton either black or white depending on the sweater color to go under it and that helps alot i didnt know why i started having to do that until doc told me and yup my mattress does cause some problems i had to put wood under it for extra support

i may have to look into that waters im 39 and i look just like my 18 year old daughter i get carded for everything and i have to show my license to people who dont believe me lol

thank u fibrokitty i have neuropothy on the list of questions for my doc im just going to hand him the paper lol he is pretty good and said he will get me a list of specialists but i have a few major problems i cant work i tried and i lost 29 jobs fired from them all for things ranging from concentration issues to having to call off too many times and i dont have insurance and im on assistance where i only get 100 dollars a month so im in a real bind since social security keeps denying me i been fighting them for 6 years now

I've had that happen before with many pieces of clothing, denim being one of my worst enemies. I finally found comfort in apple bottom jeans (brand) as they use a non denim like material with the denim look also brush lulu lemons feel fantastic, in my opinion. I also wear really fuzzy pj pants whenever I'm at home and those feel good too so if I don't have my lulu lemon or apple bottoms I wear my fuzzy pjs under my pants. For tops I found this one fantastic feeling top and bought it in two colours the material is a blend of rayon 80% and polyester 20%. I am not a brand snob by any means and I know the lulu lemons are expensive it's just the brush ones are really comfy so I suggest them.

Hugs, Hope you find comfort as I did!

HI River - I am not mad about anything!! You are doing a great job on the computer and website. Ir took me a little while to understand it all as well. Love, Laurie

thank u i will do some checking into it

I love cotton. I wear underwear with cotton civered elastic. I just seitched over to cheap walmart sports bra, next size up.

Hi, yes for years I've had horrible itchy prickly skin that feels like it wants to split open. Not all the time, thank goodness but when I get it it usually last for a few days and I feel like I just want to bathe in moisturizer! Nothing eases it though, even air on my skin irritates it. I actually thought it was the weather until I was told I had fibro. I often wondered why people would look at me strangely when I described what I was feeling, thinking that it was something everyone experienced! I know how you feel and hope you manage to find some relief from it. If you do let us know!! ;)

My dad has this in his feet and can’t stand to hardly wear socks. He is wearing sandles in the winter because his feet burn so much.

im sorry to hear that and my doc said expect flare ups like this mostly in the winter and fall and some in the spring im hoping to be able to put my cane away soon for awhile im tired of calling it my friend lol

i hope it all works out for u irma im still in the trial and error phase of things and maxalt worked on me too it should do u some good i hope it does anyway

my doc said something about getting sports bras to sleep in i may just try that thank u :)
