My clothes are already making me nuts!

I don't know what I'm going to do. This is only the second day that the weather has been cool and I am going crazy with itching and bothersome seams and labels in my clothes. Even the seams in my pajamas are causing me to be uncomfortable. The nightgown I wore last night had shoulder seams. Now the skin on my shoulders is sore. My dermatologist just tells me to put cream on. I'd be using a jar of cream every day! Does anyone else have these problems? What can I do? I'll never make it through the winter. Maybe I could come and live with one of you in Florida, lol?

Hello Rosie,

This sounds familiar to me. I didn't realise till recently how much clothes affected Fibro. Just thought it was me being weird! Not sure about the weather changes yet, I guess I have that to come. It started with wearing bras, and I had to take them off as soon as I got home. Then I noticed that any item of clothing that was tight or heavy was troublesome. Immediately I got home had to get into my pjs. I am now gradually changing things in my wardrobe to things that have a soft touch, are light and quite loose. Only way to go I reckon!

Take care, Anne

try your PJs inside out. might be more comfy for you.

hope you are ok.

This itching happens every year when the weather gets cold. My skin must dryout and that's what causes the problem. Thanks for replying to my "rant". Maybe living in a nudest camp would help, lol.

I did turn my pj's inside out last night. It helped. Now, if only I could wear all of my clothes inside out!

I try to find really soft clothing. In the winter, I wear as much fleece as I can get away with, it is very soft. I also wear a lot of lightweight cotton. My clothes sometimes irritate my skin as well and I agree it is annoying. As soon as I get home, I usually change into my more comfy clothes. Hugs.

Hi, Rosie. I use Eucerin dry skin body wash in my showers during winter. It comes in a gold bottle and is made with some kind of oil. It helps me alot with dry itchy winter skin. You should also not take too hot of a bath as really hot water dries skin. Argan Oil in baths or as a lotion or wash also works great too.

Hope you find some relief, hon.

Laurie

Cotton is the key to my comfort and sanity. Also, this last year, I discovered a wonderful product called “body butter”; it’s like cream, but better. I have psoriasis and have tried every cream, ointment, lotion, oil, grease known to man, and this is my favorite. There are a number of companies that make them, and it doesn’t seem to matter whAt brand it is. Currently, I use one from a mail order company called Melaleuca. It’s really nice stuff. Makes my skin soft and smells good. Also, I use a shower oil before drying off from the shower. Neutrogena has a nice shower oil, but it’s pricey. My local pharmacy has a store brand and it works well too. So I use the oil while still wet from shower and pat dry, then put on the body butter. I hope you get some comfort soon.
