Anyone tried Prednisone? For Fibro. or anything else?

Hi teri

I love the new pic. I hope the Mayo Clinic can find some thing to help you. Please keep up posted.

Mayo Clinic was very thorough, and I saw many specialist and did many tests. There was no MS or any other serious disease.

My diagnosis is:

Fibromyalgia

Chronic Fatigue

Depression

So I am glad it is nothing "serious", but there is no easy fix either.

Have not posted for a bit but got your msg fwded.

Prednisone is a med to take short term for an acute problem, not fibro, IMO.

Did they suggest any new meds for you at Mayo? I was considering going there or the Cleveland Clinic for a consult. They are very far, would be $$$, and after all the hassles would no doubt tell me I have fibro and arthritis in one or two spots. I had a huge workup after symptoms started getting worse five years ago and that’s what they found. Three months ago I saw one of the country’s “leading experts” on fibro for a consult, only two hours away. He, of course, found I had fibro. He suggested Cymbalta, a med my PCP and I considered for the last five years but rejected due to a problem it would worsen. We decided to try it and it helped my pain about 20% in one day. Amazing. Unfortunately, it did worsen the urinary problem but I kept on for four more days as a test. My pain and feet are really bad many days now and I may try to figure out how to retry Cymbalta, I had even opened the capsule and split the dose. The expert thought that I was anti- med and, in truth, he is correct, I was hoping he would take out a magic wand. After being a painful problem for decades, in the last few years, fibro has actually become a life changing disorder that has caused me to severely limit my activities and it keeps getting worse, for unknown reasons, of course.

I hope Mayo had some suggestions that were helpful to you after going through the tests.
