Thanks to this site I have connected with a local lady from this site. It is so wonderful to have someone I can now call and have a sounding board. She understands & knows what I live with every day. We have become fast friends and check up on each other regularly. She also has that same option of using me as a sounding board.
My advice to all is to watch new arrivals or go through old ones. See if there is someone in your area. Deb and I live less than 15 minutes apart and it's great to know she is there if I need someone. The site is wonderful. But typing kills my neck and shoulders. I can talk to Deb and be doing something else get comments and help right then.
If you cant find someone on the site check your local hospital and see if they have any type of support group.
Thank you, Michelle. The easiest way I can recommend to any member to find another person who understands what you are going through, is to search the database by City/State - that was all it took. I sent an email to Michelle and we were finally able to meet. We both have supporting spouses, but they can't understand how we feel inside, the energy it takes just to get up and walk and the desire to get more than an hours sleep at a time. It is truly a blessing to have met Michelle; we can practically finish each other's sentences and it has just been a few weeks.
For those of you who feel isolated and alone, like no one understands, try searching for another member in your area. On your worst days you can share and on those days of small victories, it is nice to share as well.
How do you search for some one near you Deborah? Im not very good on the computer. I call myself computer stupid. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Log on to the website, select "Members" (4th one over) then in the search box, type in your City and/or State and it will pull up members in your city. I would start with your state first, then scroll through. If you live in a big state like CA, put in your area or perhaps the nearest bigger city around and it will bring up all the members in that area. It is a great resource, that is how I found Michelle. Good luck, let me know how it goes.
