So I wanted to start this forum because I didn't find any other content on the site that was related to this topic.
A few years ago I tried a three day juice cleanse for weight loss and I was shocked to find that the juicing had significant effects my pain and energy levels.
Since then I have maintained pretty consistently at least one fresh juice a day and I do a cleanse every three months or so. My doctor is very supportive of non-western medicine and fully supports this practice. I did a food sensitivity screening as well, and did the elimination diet, but that basically did nothing, yet the juice seems to help. I eat normal food most of the time, but I try to stay as raw as possible. The more simple, the better I feel - though lets be real I am no saint and I eat ice cream and drink wine and i'm not apologizing for it!
Have any of you had similar experiences? What does juicing do for you? Are any of you interested in trying? I'd be happy to recommend some good starting points if so!
Hi Taylor, I am glad this is working well for you . I have to be very careful with my diet as I have IBS and I can not do something that for me would be too irritating and drastic .what works for one may not for another .
All the best

Ps . It is always good for people to check with their doctors before trying out things like this especially those taking various meds and have GI issues
Ps. As I am reading more about cleanses and they are not specifically touted as a pain remedy but for weight loss and of course removing toxins from the body . People with blood sugar level issues and gastrointestinal disorders should not engage in this without discussing with a doctor as I mentioned before . Please be very careful !!
Suzie - yes most juice cleanses can be pricey. its extremely lame that being healthy costs so much. :(
also, talking it over with a doctor is of course the thing to do, however the reality of of how juicing affects blood sugar levels when done properly is very very different from the perception. juicing, done right, will keep the blood sugar stable. obviously a risk for someone who already has blood sugar issues, but for those of us who do not it is absolutely healthy to do. (this is all assuming that the juices are organic and contain appropriate balances of fruit and veg.)
you are also correct that it is not specifically recommended for pain, which is why a lot of fibro patients haven't thought to try it! i didn't originally do it for this reason, but it was a great side effect! also, more energy, which we all know we need!
also, if doing a cleanse isn't an option, even just having one juice a day makes a difference in my energy level! I have a juicer so I can make them at home for not much $ and I copy the recipes from the famous juice bars in NYC. (haha don't tell them that or they will stop listing ingredients!)
I feel like a lot of Fibro patients aren't getting good alternative treatment options from their doctors, which is why I'm posting about this. I have been doing this for three years with my doctors supervision, and I have managed to avoid heavy pain meds. I was personally inspired by the film 'hungry for change' which is super eye opening if you want to check it out! its on netflix if you want to watch it!
we all have a difficult journey we are on. I just want people to know that this has helped me in mine and I would really like to discuss it with others who have tried it!
