whist my mam has suffered with fibromyalgia most of her life, I see the pain she suffers. I was wanting to know if anyone has a disease that goes along side with fibromyalgia.
3 years ago I was diagnosed with Erythromelalgia and Raynaurds. After I have an attack of. EM the following day I will be hit with Raynaurds
My body is like a china doll in days to follow. Every joint muscle hurt and feels like if you were to touch my skin, you are bruising me.
Is they any links between these diseases have I maybe got this too? I have niggles aches of pain daily but have to admit the flaring of intense burning over powers any ache. After a attack of EM I find it impossible to even straighten a finger.
I was wondering does anyone else have EM thankyou
Hi Donna,
Just wanted to make sure you know that there is a site for Erythromelalgia on Bens Friends. You might want to go there too. Just go to the Home page and you will see it listed.
Best,
Starr
Hi Donna,
I've have heard experiences where individuals that have Fibro, often have other diagnoses as well. I have Arthritis, Fibro, IBS and CFS. I'm sorry you are going through a rough time and the flares are so intense. I definitely know that myself and other members can relate to those nasty flares : ( I hope you have better days to come.
Many hugs,
Sara
Geesh... the co-existing...IBS, TMJ, Trigonitis, Sleep apnea, Migraines, Bursitis, Bi-lateral sacroiliitis, thoracic and lower lumbar facet joint arthritis, Depression, anxiety, Gastritis, GERD, PTSD, essential tremors, paresthesia, CFS, and the big kicker...MS.
I do hope you have found some relief. This Fibro thing is a tough one to manage it is so unpredictable from one day to the next and then the things that come with it... or come after it or before it... just hard to keep up with it all.
Huggs, Belinda
Since fibro is auto-immune disorder it opens our body up to a lot of other problems that normally it would be able to fight off. Once or defenses have been compromised they its no telling what will attack.
Hi Donna,
Welcome to our site! There is a lot of knowledge packed into these pages. The more you read, the more you will understand fibro.
I am sorry about how much you are suffering. I don't know a thing about EM but I want to agree strongly with doggie's comment to you. We are able to have MANY co-existing illnesses with fibro. My major ones are osteoarthritis and depression. What I strongly suggest you do is write down your symproms, jot down any time frames so you can compare, and also jot down the weather, to compare. Make an appt. with your doctor and tell him/her that you want to find out if you have fibro or not. The doctor can't tell instantly. You will need to see a rheumatologist to be tested for other auto-immune illnesses, if you haven't been already. Then, once they are ruled out, the doctor can more easily diagnose fibro. There are drugs that do diminish the horrible burning and pain of fibro but it's never totally gone.
It also is a good idea to check out the EM page mentioned above. The more knowledge you have, the more educated you are in your expectations for treatment because, quite frankly, some of the doctors out there are real quacks. You are your best advocate.
Kindest regards,
Petunia
PS: I just went to the Ben' Friends EM site and it states that secondary EM can be brought on by an auto-immune disease, so it is possible that you may also have fibro. Definitely worth looking into!
