Do any of you have pelvic pain from Fibro?

I thought they didn't even call it Fibro 30 years ago. At that time they were still sending people to the Psychiatrist!

Lucky we've come a long way, but I am sorry you have had Fibro for that long.It is difficult, especially during the bad flareup times, like now for me.

Family understanding helps. My first wife is a nurse and was like having round the clock care. She was a tremendous one woman support staff. My new wife is just seeing this for the first time, as I had only minor flareups while dating, and not much the first 1.5 years of our marriage, but now this major flare up since Jan., so she is just learning about it. 2 of my 5 daughters live at home, but are off at college or working summers most of the time, but they all give moral support.

Hi Pet - I have had cortisone shots in my hips on and off for several years. Wow! The shots hurt like hell! But I did get relief for a little while - and then it all came back. I can't believe the shots didn't do anything for you! Is it possible that the doctor didn't aim it in the right place?? You never know! (Smile). Question: what is 'radio ablation??' I have heard of this before - but have no idea what it is. Love and Hugs!! Laurie

Hi Amy - thanks for responding. I doubt that the way your 'body is shaped' has anything to do with your pain! What a weird statement for the Doctor to make. Jeez! Have you ever had shin pain? It's SO painful. I had it all last night in both legs and it drove me crazy. I put a heating pad on them and it didn't really help much. Right now, I am up and around and of course, the shins don't hurt anymore. Only when I try to get some sleep! LOL Hugs and love, Laurie

Hi Laurie,

The docs were doing the shots in my back and they admitted it was very hard to find the right spot to treat.

As far as the radio ablation, it's a procedure that burns the nerves in a certain part of your body, so they can't let out pain signals, I guess. Let me look it up, be right back.

Ah, here we go: "Radiofrequency ablation (or RFA) is a procedure used to reduce pain. An electrical current produced by a radio wave is used to heat up a small area of nerve tissue, thereby decreasing pain signals from that specific area."

And it does help. For a few months, at least. But boy when that pain comes back again, OH, does it wallop you! I guess you forget how bad it really was? Or it got worse while you couldn't feel the pain? I don't know, just know I could barely walk with it (still can't walk too well but better since I had the procedure.)

Something for some of you out there to consider.

Hugs and smiles,

Petunia

I know, right? And such a strange place to be affected by fibro pain! You have my sympathy, MrsK. It does hurt like no one's business.

Try the ice, Laurie. I had to ice all night but it did help. Heat does nothing for my shin pain. And also try the Salon Pas patches. I slapped several on over the worst area and they did reduce the pain.

Amy, you might be interested in what I wrote above about radio ablation. Sounds like you're having deferred back pain too, so maybe the procedure might work for you.

Sorry I couldn’t respond sooner, I was told that I may have lax legiments in my hips and legs so that may be a partial cause of why my bones seem to slip in and out of joint so often. It is very very painful when it happens but thankfully it seems to stay in joint once I am in motion. There are strengthening exercises and stretches that are supposed to help tighten the ligaments in those areas, I just am (like everyone here) in too much pain to typically do them. I also have tremors in my hands and strangely my neck when my anxiety is very severe. Not sure what can be done about this. I usually just try to calm down and wait for it to be over.

Hi Laurie, I do believe pelvic pain & fibro are related… I have had mad pelvic pain from the time I was 13 teen, always thought it was from menstral cramps, and let me say they were severe !!! As fibro showed its ugly head in my life… The pelvic pain got worse, to the point of having a uterine ablation to see if the cramps & pain would subside… Nope…
It’s scary when you look back and all the signs of fibro where there at an early age, I remember having headaches in grammar school, growing pains, fatigue, leg cramps and muscle aches… Maybe this all just keeps getting worse till our body says its had enough!!

Great discussion Laurie ! Thanks for sharing

Blessings

bTw… HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!! I hope you had a wonderful day

Hi Ahava - the tremors that you mentioned may be what is called 'essential tremors.' Nothing life-threatening - just an annoyance. I have had these tremors for 30 years. I get them when I am severely stressed or anxious. Sometimes my head will shake a little and my speech will get a little bit garbled. I used to have beautiful penmanship - but not now!! LOL Laurie

Hi Laurie,

Yes, me too, it was decided that my pelvic will sometimes 'tilt' and that is excruciating! My Chiropractor is the only one who can help me with this, he adjusts me, and it's GONE!

Hope it might work for you!
