Has anyone else used essential oils to help treat their fibro? I began last month with great results. My Rheumatologist is very pleased with my progress and told me that if the oils help with my pain and sleep enough I can attempt to go off my pain meds. So I am hoping next month to try out copaiba essential oil which is supposed to be as good as steroids at relieving pain and inflammation without the side effects.Right now I am using Frankincense, Lemon, Peppermint, Valor, Thieves, Lavender and wintergreen. So far I have been able to stop all my ant-acids (I was doing at least 4 tums everyday) and taking the lowest dose of my pain meds. So has anyone else tried this? Have you had any results?
Hello, I haven't tried essential oils - however, if you type in essential oils in the search box on the discussion page you might find others comments on it. And hopefully some people now will have experiences to share with you. Hugs!
I just started essential oils about a week and a half ago! I’m so excited to hear they are working for you, and can’t wait until I start to feel the difference!
I use peppermint for my stomach and have stopped my stomach med with my doctors permission. I use lavender in my bathwater and have a satchet under my pillow.
What does the lavender in your bathwater help?

Hello,
This does sound great. Excuse my ignorance if I ask, how are these administered? Does someone have to massage these in for you?
Take care, Anne
Hi, I haven’t used essential oils, but want to try. Ever since developing Fibro, I have become very attuned to fragrance. I have been almost craving scented candles. I believe they soothe my nerves and calm me. If you haven’t yet tried the woodwick candles- do! They are wonderful and crackle delightfully. A fireplace in a jar.
Hi Anne, that is a good question for those not familiar with essential oils. I only use therapeutic grade essential oils, as in ones you can ingest orally, if you cannot ingest them orally you don't want to use them at all. Pure essential oils on a molecular level are small enough to travel through cell membranes and breach the blood brain barrier, so impure oils don't work well. Some of them I take orally, like lemon, lime and peppermint, I just put a few drops in water. Peppermint can also be rubbed on the stomach. The oils that I use topically, i just put a few drops on the area i want, and barely rub them in because the skin absorbs them rather quickly. My wintergreen, which is great for muscle pain, I actually mix with my lotion and le tmy husband massage it into my back, hips, shoulders..anywhere I can't reach. Frankincense i just dab on the back of my neck and base of my spine because its great for nerves.

I try to stay away from scented candles mostly because of the chemical scents. when you burn a candle, the chemicals go into the air and you breath them in. It was a hard decision for me because i looooooovvveee candles, so now i settle for non scented beeswax and such. I do recommend trying therapeutic grade essential oils and diffusing them. Chamomile, Lavender and Mint can be very calming and soothing tot he nerves. peppermint is also great for cognitive ability and will help keep fibro fog at bay.

Hi, njones. Thank you. I use only natural non-toxic candles. There are alot out there… lavender, lemon oil, all kinds, really! You don’t need to give up on candles.
That is good ot hear....i've been thinking about making my own...with the essential oils and such. Where do you like to buy your all natural ones?

I get mine from buygreen.com. Big Dipper Wax Works candles are really nice aromatherapy 100% beeswax candles.
I am also thinking of making my own with rolled beeswax and essential oils. Save money and have fun to boot!
My mom (who also has fibro) and I have both been using essential oils for a little while now and they help so much. I still have a bad day once in a while (like today) but mostly they make me feel almost normal a lot of the time. I sleep a lot better now. The most difficult part has actually been pacing myself. I’ve got Copiaba and Panaway, which I use for my joint pain every day, as well as others like lavender, peppermint, lemon, and peace and calming. I’ve also got Joy which helps fight depression. I can’t take other meds so these have been a huge help for me and I recommend everyone give them a try if you can. They aren’t cheap but they are worth it. Also I’ve cleaned out my bathroom and gotten rid of any products that have bad stuff in them like parabens. Glad to know the oils are helping others with fibro as well!
Have you tried scentsy? You may really like it. You can look it up on scentsy.com.

No, I haven't, but I am interested on how they work and how you use them. Can you let me know, I would appreciate it.. Have a great night..
Essential oils have helped me a lot. I started by throwing out all my cleaners, Scentsy products, scented candles, air fresheners, deodorant, shampoo, soap etc and making my own.
It isn’t as time consuming as it sounds!
Then I started using essential oils to replace all these things. Eucalyptus oil is amazing for congestion and muscle pain. Peppermint oil for tummy upsets. I diffuse oil combos for help with pain, concentration, alertness and a fresh smelling home.
CLeaner and personal care recipes are plenty on Pinterest, using the ingredients you want.
It is not a cure but any relief is welcome!
Best wishes!!
I find that essential oils used to help me but I can’t handle the smell anymore. Good luck!
