Facial Symptoms

Hi all. I'm wondering about any facial symptoms that other people have. Something I've never really given much thought to is the achiness around my eyes. It's one of the first symptoms when I'm getting a flare, but I've never really thought about it too much. It makes me want to go to sleep. It always starts a few hours before neck and shoulder aches start. Does anyone else have any similar symptoms? What symptoms, if any, do you experience in your face?

I have not been technically diagnosed, but all physicians I have seen have treated me for fibro. They have discussed firbo and treated me for fibro, but never gave me a true diagnoses. I guess the problem for me as far as a diagnosis is that my medical insurance has been so extremely spotty that I have never seen a single doctor more than once before losing coverage. Also, where I was living in Pennsylvania up until recently, doctors told me that they didn't diagnose fibro and specialists would get angry if I brought it up. I have not had insurance for about a year now. The only specific symptoms any doctors ever treated were my sleep problems and my back pain. I get light sensitivity from migraines also, but that's not what I'm talking about. I guess the best way to describe the feeling around my eyes is only something you could relate to if you have IBS. It is actually very similar to the pain in my bottom when I'm in between having to go and not. I don't know if that could make sense to you, or even other people with IBS.

For me, it's my gums, teeth and jaws. And my neck and shoulders now bother me as well.

I know that if I sleep too much, the area around my eyes aches and it makes one even more sleepy! I wonder if yours is an offshoot of the neck pain, even if the neck pain starts later, because the fibro trigger points are in the neck and throat? Sometimes I find that if I press into the trigger points, the fibro pain is alleviated a bit. Maybe if you press the ones in your neck or even try pressing your temples the pain will abate a bit. Or what about a warm, moist washcloth placed over your eyes?

I'm sorry that your fibro has settled around your eyes. For obvious reasons, you can't use some of the usual pain relief products that we utilize, like Tiger Balm or over the counter pain patches. So I would guess that moist heat might be the best remedy for the pain. But I don't know for sure as I haven't had it hit me around the eyes yet.

Gentle hugs and a nice, warm washcloth,

Petunia

Oh Tina, God, that sounds terrible! That's the same pain I get in my knee from time to time and its hideous! I can't imagine having it in my head! I know it's probably nerve pain from fibro but have you seen a doctor for it? I really would if I were you, to rule other things out.

Taking a nap is what I have no choice but to do. The pain makes my eyes start to close and I get really sleepy.

Next time it happens, I'll try a warm washcloth. The idea of the eye problem being caused by my shoulders and neck makes sense, considering it all comes on around the same time, the eye thing is just the first thing I notice. I'll try pushing on my pressure points too, thank you!
