I have been struggling with a lot of joint pain, muscle aches, and much more fatigue than I’ve had in a long time. The majority of the pain is in my jaw, shoulders, elbows, wrists and extreme pain in my hands. I do have arthritis along with Fibro but am wondering if the flares are similar. I’ve been on Savella for 8 months now and wondering if it’s time for a medication adjustment? I’ve read, and my doctor told me it’s common to have to make changes to meds along the way. 8 months doesn’t seem very long but I’m definitely noticing more frequency and severity of the flares.its really starting to get me down because I did very well for about 6 months. Any advice or information would be helpful.
Blessings, Dyana
Hi Dyana,
I don’t have any advice or info for you but I am sorry your are having a flare up. I was diagnosed with fibro last summer and have been on cymbalta since then. Try hard not to let this wear you down. Keep your spirits up! You will get through this

Hi Jane
Thank you:) I think I just need to come to terms with the fact that for now there is no cure and to be thankful for the good days. And to realize it’s going to be constant adjusting and changing because what works now may not always work. Also there are always new symptoms popping up!
You’re right, I will get through…thanks for the encouragement:) Dyana
Hi Dyana,
I'm sorry you are hurting. I have Arthritis and Fibro as well. Medication adjustments, I have figured out, are a normal part of the process with these diagnoses. I have gone through several medications changes, do better for a while and then have to have another adjustment because it decreases or stops working. It does take time to come to terms with the fact that there is no cure (I still have hope that one day there will be a cure). I don't know if we ever fully accept that or it works on somewhat of a continuum where we accept it one day and not the next. The unpredictability of this diagnosis is hard to cope with and always changing. I hope you feel better soon!
Hugs,
Sara
Thank you Sara. I guess it’s time to call my doctor. I was enjoying my days of no dr visits as I feel like that’s All I did last year prior to my dx. I did have a lot of difficulty adjusting to all the meds I’m on now so making a change makes me very nervous. It’s so helpful to hear that you have been through this too. Do you take meds for both Fibro and arthritis? Or is there something that works for both? Thanks, Dyana
I'm currently working with the Rheumatologist I'm seeing to start a different medication for Arthritis. She currently has me on 1600 mg of Ibuprofen daily and a light pain medication to help with the Fibro, Arthritis and Inflammation. I've tried medications like Lyrica and Cymbalta, but they do not work for me and had really bad side effects. I often sometimes wonder if I'm having a Fibro flare, Arthritis flare or both. I completely understand about enjoying your days of no dr visits. I haven't been able to experience that yet; always seems like there is one appointment or another to go to. Hope you are having a good night! : )
