Government making it hard for us to survive

Once again Obama opens his mouth and struggling Americans lose more assistance. Now they are cutting foodstamps. I am running out of ways to survive while the politicians enjoy there salaries and benefits.

I went to the Behavioral Health Center last week to try and get an appointment with a psychiatristthey were able to schedule an appointment for the middle of March but they couldn’t but they told me they would call me by the end of the day to schedule a therapy appointment for the week up until then because I need to talk to somebody I’ve called every day since and I still can’t get a therapy appointment when I finally got ahold of a person they gave me thr therapyy appointment after the psychiatry appointment these people don’t know what they’re doing and really starting to stress me out. I have to find a place to live transportation to my doctors appointments a way to get food away to get my medication away the E I mean age is that this government is just taking everything away from people with disabilities while I wait 2 years for them to determine if I have a disability it’s ridiculous I’m really really down right now and it’s really hard to get through each day everyday

I am also frustrated. Because I have been a homemaker who had to home school two multi-need children, the government considers that I haven't worked and am therefore ineligible for disability.

My husband makes a good salary but it all goes to medical costs. Now that my son is home going back to college as a displaced worker, we have to pay Obamacare insurance at the rate of our income. If we do that, we will be living on next to no food. My son's classwork is so heavy there is no time for him to work, even part-time.

Aaargh! All I get is a car placard, and all the handicapped spots are filled in the parking lot!

Now my insurance company (through husband's job) is asking repeatedly if I have secondary insurance. As a cancer survivor I can't get insurance. As I am covered by my husband's job insurance, I don't qualify for Obamacare. What the heck do they think I do besides going to doctors? Work is out of the question!

What you NEED is a Case Management Worker, you can request for one at the DHS, oh yeah I forgot, the Dept of Human Srvcs. If you qualify for food stamps you qualify for a CMW. A CMW interviews you & then takes care of what you need to function & survive. Housing help, mental health help, psych help, transportation help, etc. I don't know if you live in a big town or a little town, a highly populated county or a sparsely populated county. I am of the latter two- small town & sparsely populated county. & since I was already on housing, medicaid & food stamps from another state helped a lot!

I understand your feeling of helplessness, I have been thru that often enough just trying to pay the bills & feed the child & myself & the vehicle & buying the housegoods &............. We are here for you, There are a lot of good people here. M

Scribelle, my college-going son is going to skip getting the insurance and pay the penalty instead. The penalty is about $200, I think. Please check it before taking that advice, though. But it's DREADFUL that the President clamped these economic irons on the working class. I wish you the best with this.

Petunia

Hi, QBall (Cute name, btw,)

Yes, I definitely agree that a Licensed Social Worker or Case Management Worker would help out immensely. They know how to sort through all of this junk. You can't, as you're bogged down with this evil illness. You could try calling Meals on Wheels or your local Aging agency and they might know how to direct you to the appropriate department.

I will try to dig up a page made by one of our members about services available to us. It might have out-dated links at this point but I'll try to find it and post it. Hopefully it will provide you with some help. If I find it, it will be on a separate page and will say something like "Help for Americans."

Hugs to you,

Petunia

I'm not finding it thus far. Here's something that might be helpful, although I'm not sure: https://www.pcip.gov/PCIP_States.html

The no insurance penalty is capped at $95 or 1% of income, whichever is higher, for this year. There are also a lot of exemptions from having to pay, including if someone does not make enough money to file a federal tax return. You can see the full list at www.healthcare.gov/exemptions/

Good luck, this new healthcare law is very confusing. I saw a free navigator at my hospital, and he helped me a lot. Your doctor should be able to direct you to one.
