Hives

New development today... HIVES all over my face! This extra special treat accompanies sore muscles, stumbling, and body tremors. Is this a natural part of the Fibro merry-go-round? My Dr. gave me a choice either Benadryl or Prednisone. I opted for the Benadryl. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Hi Runt,

Could the rash possibly be caused by a medication you are taking? Or a soap or skin cream? What about something you've eaten? For some reason, I developed a hivey rash after eating strawberries once this summer. I only broke out once before, the first time I ate them as a child, but I suspect that fibro caused the current rash I had this summer.

Sore muscles, tremors and stumbling can also be fibro symptoms, absolutely. Of course, I'm not a medical person or doctor, so please make sure you check with your doctor about these symptoms.

Hugs,

Petunia

Hives ,so an allergy to something, I wonder what. The trouble is when we’ve got so much to put up with I’m talking about pain and all that stuff , any more is just too much. it’s something you’ve touched ot taken, can you think of anything that you 've put all over your face? Or have you eaten or taken any new stuff. Good luck, hopefully it will go away as quickly as it came. take Care Barb

Dear Runt,

There are so many things that can cause hives, and so many different kinds of hives, I learned this from my allergist. There have been times when I have been treated for allergies when one antibiotic after another was given and I reached the point that even antibiotics that I took before that I never had a reaction to were causing me problems. I think that I was just overly saturated with them personally.

Even if you have changed nothing, introduced nothing new, your body chemistry can change and react. I have had to change soaps often, as my husband was having reactions, and the hives were turning to Eczema. Finally a dermatologist at the Univ of MD told him to use Dreft laundry soap, as it is the only product that does not take all the moisture out of the clothing, I also changed his bath soap to Aveno for sensitive skin and those two changes helped tremendously. I had used Seventh generation free and clear laundry, and Dove unscented bath, so it was not like these were extreme irritants.

At one point they thought he had a nickel allergy, so we had to go so far as chaning his belts to ones with solid brass buckles, and buttons instead of snaps for his jeans. I personally cannot wear earrings with any nickel in them.

Could be a med, a food, a chemical or preservative in a food, a soap, air freshner, perfume, mold, dry cleaning chemicals, even getting upset can cause them, my grandson gets them on his cheekbones, below his eyes if he cries.

It would be a hassle but you may need to start keeping a journal to see if it is food. AS far as soaps go, everything is so horribly over perfumed, that it could be anything in that category. If your house is too hot and dry, that could even do it!

Though I am not a Dr, I have shared my personal experience with you and hope something has helped!

I hope that you can find the irritant and eliminate it from your life!

Wishing you well,

SK
