Small, thick blisters on one hand?

Hi All. This week I have developed something new. I don't know if I'm being hypersensitive to every little thing, or if I should be concerned. You know how fibro is.

These are little, deep blisters I have gotten in 4 different areas on one hand. One fingertip, one pad of the finger, my palm and the back of my wrist. They are quite sore to touch. They started on Tuesday and just pop up, about a new cluster each day.

Any ideas? I have eaten a lot of fresh strawberries this week, but that's all I can think of that's different.

Thanks for letting me run this by you all!

LKitty

That is so strange. I have the same problem on the side of one finger (left hand), very small bumps...almost like poison ivy. Very hard blisters and small. They don't itch or hurt and have mostly gone away (can't see it, but can feel rough skin if I run my fingers over that area). Never even attributed to Fibro.

Thanks Wytewing. I'll try some cortisone cream. They are getting bigger and more painful and there is a new one today. I did just read that some foods can trigger hives (I don't know if it's hives, just googling possibilities). One of the foods is fresh berries. Have you had fresh berries?
Might be a good idea to take pictures of the sores for the next doctors appointment. Hopefully they will be gone by then.

Hi sherylk. Glad yours are going away. Weird, huh?
Mine look like they are raising closer to the surface and are getting more sensitive to touch. I'm going to have to stop typing! I am going to believe, for now, that it's a reaction to all the fresh berries I have eaten this last week.
These probably have nothing to do with fibro? But, I surely don't know. I do know that some auto immune diseases come with skin problems.

Take a photo of this, so you can show your Doctor, also make a note of eating the berries!

Who can say what's what, LK?

Lkitty,

According to this article, blisters can form as a result of allergies from eating strawberries: http://www.livestrong.com/article/297471-skin-rash-from-strawberries/

But I'm with SK, photograph and chronicle it for your doctor.

Thank you, Petunia. I just read almost identical material. Yip, I'm sure it's the berries. I have made shortcake this past week and over consumed those wonderful, fresh, mouth watering berries.

I never thought of a berry as having protein. Interesting article to read.

I didn't have to actually go into the woods. People did it for me. I did think of poison oak though. I was pulling weeds and could have grabbed some, but I didn't see any in the debris. Thank you for being so sensitive. No kitty yet.

Thank you Rattled.

Thanks SK. Yip I took pictures. What a strange existence! Taking pictures of my owies. I'm sure it's those darn, delicious berries.

Oh my. I was miserable yesterday. My whole body itched. Weird under the skin itch. These blisters are coming closer to the surface like they're going to open up. They hurt. I haven't had any strawberries since friday.

The other thing new I've been doing it taking a supplement called Fibroplex. Magnesium, Manganese, B6 and Malic Acid. I was afraid it could be causing the itch somehow, so I didn't take last nights dose. I haven't been as itchy today. I don't want it to be from the Fibroplex because I have had more energy since I started taking it. :0( So, I'll start the Fibroplex back slowly and hope hope hope it doesn't make me itch!

Isn't it weird how we all respond differently to things. I never had a strawberry allergy before. I have never had a supplement sensitivity before either.

Who knows???

Full house. 4 grandboys here at my house and no parents, just us old folks. Oh boy!!!

Wytewing, I don't know how you tolerate it. It hurts so bad right now with this huge one on a fingertip about to burst. I can't type without hurting it so this will be short.

What do they thing causes it for you? I would imagine the gloves do help. Anything for padding and absorbtion.

I'll be thinking of you. Thanks for weighing in.

LKitty

Okay, let's try a totally different track. Could you possibly have Shingles? It's the reactivated Chicken Pox virus and it only affects one side of the body. Here's more on the subject: http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/shingles/shingles-symptoms

I would also suggest not taking the Fibroplex for 3-4 days to see if the pain abates. I didn't realize that Fibroplex was B vitamins, or else I would have told you that my sis took B vitamins for awhile but had to stop because she got sensations like broken glass in her breasts. So I'm wondering if the Fibroplex could be affecting you.

I wish I had more to offer to you, L-Kitty. Those blisters really do sound miserable! I hope they scram very soon!

Thank you, Petunia. I really appreciate your link. I have been thinking shingles too...or herpes. It's getting so weird. The one on my fingertip got so big and dark and extremely painful that I finally pierced it today. Sorry, it's so gross, but it took the pressure away and feels much better.

I didn't know that about vitamin b's. I have been (until i started fibroplex) taking b complex. I have stopped fibroplex for now and when i re-start it will be very very slowly.

Here's another interesting link. http://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=7&m=841469 This makes sense too. After all, my doctor did have me taking oh, too many meds, and he tried to add more which my pharmacist put a stop to. Thank God for her!!

My husband wants me to go to the doctor and find out what it is, but I am scared. From what I have read it sounds like it's another guessing game for doctors. I don't want more meds. I really want to try a more natural approach. As long as they are only uncomfortable and not becoming infected I think I'll wait a bit longer.

I happen to have an appt with my very smart acupuncturist on Monday. I can't wait to see what she says.

Latest update. I went to the doctor this morning at my GP's clinic. Saw a very nice nurse practitioner. I think I'll stay with her, btw.

This morning I could no longer handle the throbbing and one of them looked like it might be infected. She diagnosed it as shingles, although she was not entirely certain. She prescribed an anti-viral drug, an anti-itch drug that is not an antihistamine and an antibiotic. I'm glad I went.

We'll see how it goes.

I guess I won't know "for sure". She didn't do any testing. She did think the location of my sores was strange. It was a shot in the dark. I am improving so fast. The day after starting the meds I could touch my finger. The day before it hurt so bad I would have been ok with having it amputated! I am not kidding.

Yes, get your shingles shot! I can have one as soon as I am completely healed and done with meds. I will be having one!

Biiiigggg hugs,

LKitty

Wow, Wytewing, that sounds excruciating! You need to have some relief of that pain. I feel for you! I will be praying for that to heal for you.

So, if you have a more clear diagnosis of PA, will treatment change and prevent these sores? Oh, I hope so. Please keep us posted.

You are in my thoughts!

Hugs,

LKitty

OOOOHHH!! I have only ever had one small lesion of this, on my butt cheek, right by the Sciatica. It worried me for years off and on, finally when I had my gall bladder taken out, I asked the Surgeon what it was and he replied shingles! They are wicked! I also used to get dreaded fever blisters, like my mother and grandmother, but found that if I took good probiotics regularly, I don't get them, or it's very rare!

A lady who saw me in the drug store one day saw me with them all over my mouth, looking at all of the salves and ointments, and told me she used to get them the same way, to go to the Pharmacist and ask for Lactinex, and told me to keep it refrigerated, it would help more than all the stuff on the shelves, and then one day the Pharmacist was out of it, and told me to just go to the health food store down the block and get Probiotics! I'm now a believer! It keeps the virus in check, or at least helps significantly!

Wishing you well!

SK

Dear Wytewing,

Oh my, I feel for you Psoriatic Arthritis is what I have! There are 4 types, I have the spondyliltis type. I have never had Psoriasis, but I have always had the pitted fingernails! All of my grandkids have Psoriasis though, so I always have Coconut oil, castor oil, OTC homeopathic stuff, and all kinds of special soaps and salves for it. My 10 year old grandson gets it pretty bad, and if the wind blows over him, he is covered with poison, and the mosquitos eat him up, he is just a wreck, I get him all healed up, then he goes home, and is back down fishing at the river and it all starts over when he comes back!

My house is full of remedies! They always come to me when something is wrong, I fix them up until they can get to the Doctor!

We have a subgroup Fibro and Arthritis, you are very welcome to join, I have posted lots of info on all types of arthritis, the differences, the treatments, breakthroughs, new meds. Just click 'groups' at the page top!

Sending you lots of love,

SK

my ex husband had what you are describing and his was a form of eczema called dyshidrotic eczema.you need to go to the doctor so they can see the blisters first hand . He would have flares of it and they gave him a ointment to get rid of it

Feeling any better, LK?
