I don’t know if I have any answers for you, but I can relate. It’s so unusual for me to be able to get anything done that, on the days when I CAN accomplish something, I often over-do it. Lots of pain & days in bed.
For me, over-activity is often driven by uncertainty : I do more than I should because I JUST NEVER KNOW WHEN I’LL BE PHYSICALLY ABLE FUNCTION AGAIN. It’s not as though I can make a schedule: laundry on this day, groceries on that day. Every day is an unknown: don’t know how I’ll feel or if I’ll even be able to get out of bed. So I Do when I Can Do.
