I read this book

Real fibromyalgia Rx. It was a tough read, lots of doctor speak. This doc thinks fibro is caused by damage to the pituitary gland. Any thoughts?

Thanks for sharing Sam. There are a number of theories on what causes Fibro but as of yet no research has shown a definitive cause. It is nice to get different medical viewpoints, someday they will hopefully figure out the cause.

Hello Sam,

It is good to read new research and ideas, but always to keep an open mind as I think have many people have found ' no one size fits all. My rheumatologist told me it was to do with unrefreshed sleep and a heightened response to pain, as a response to this. I have heard it is something to do with the thyroid gland. I think that regardless of cause, what works for you is the key, and that is down to trial and error.

Be interesting to hear hear others thoughts on this.

Take care, Anne

I have been researching a doctor who has been specializing in fibro research for almost 20 years & he believes that fibro is caused by acute or chronic stress on the HPA Axis (Hypothalamic -Pituitary-Adrenal Axis), which is the self-regulating system of the body, so this would definitely go along with what you read. He also stresses the importance of trying to treat the causes & not just the symptoms, which I truly believe in. I am new to the site & appreciate all of the info you all share. It is helping me with my research so that I can manage this better & have a better quality of life. My best to all of you and hopes for more good days than bad for all of us:)
