Why can't doctors help us?

While lying on the couch in pain, I thought about the commercial on tv that says fibro is caused by overactive nerves. So, why can't they find a way to calm down our brains. I found fibro has been around since around 1907. They've had plenty of time to research. Found another study that talked about an increase in blood flow and decrease of blood flow to certain parts of the brain. If one does studies and finds a difference between fibromites and other ppl, can one not hypothesize on why or come up with a way to relieve our symptoms? Lyrica sucks (weight gain on my small frame), and I never have one day without pain. We can split a atom, cure ppl of the bubonic plague, and do face transplants, but cannot find a way to fix fibro? That is sad.

HI Susan,

I don't think you had joined when we had the discussions on substance P, so here is a link about that, there is a better one that I initially posted, I'll see if I can come across it!

i also think - well, i really believe, (after 2 years of in depth study about this) that the symptoms (even the brain difference) is trauma based. but the study of trauma is such a relatively new science...and it requires extreme gentleness and sensitivity to heal. unfortunately, the system and culture of education, itself is traumatic! doctors are literally traumatized during their education. i heard somewhere that people start out wanting to be HEALERS and end up doctors. so: 1. the very people we go to for treatment can TREAT us in ways that further wound. 2. almost no doctors know about trauma let alone how to work with it. 3. well, jeez...i agree...why have they not gotten farther yet? :) if this interests you, you could go to www.healyourearlyimprints.com www.judythweaver.com www.myrnamartin.com www.aptitude-academy.com
