JayCS’s Fibro Blog

Hey TJ:
Devil - drug?! Whoah! :horse_racing: 8-). I as ever mean the supp, neurotransmitter & amino acid Gamma-Amino-Butyric Acid, not its drug derivatives e.g. gabapentin (Neurontin) or pregabalin (Lyrica), phenibut, baclofen or mirogabalin, as people often misunderstand…

Can’t imagine GABA being considered a devil drug by anyone, considering it’s long been considered by researchers not able to pass the blood-brain-barrier! Recent studies have revised that, but can’t explain it yet. It definitely does cross my BBB tho, and it has definitely placebo-status, as my sleep lab psychiatrist contends, as it has greatly improved my severe fibro in 10 areas continually for over 6 months now.
Also I’ve recommended it to 2 befriended fibromites, one of whom “thanks me daily” for the change it has made to her life for fibro fog, whilst the other realized she doesn’t need GABA, she needs tyrosine (using the amino acid questionnaire).
So GABA is so much of an Angel Supp for me, not at all a Devil Drug! Some people only need 125mg of it per day (or even just pixie dust amounts), I need about 1.5g, but sometimes I forget, and went up to 1.8 and then 2.2g, that was the problem the past days.

What I’d call Devil Drugs are actually almost all meds I’ve tried, cos of massive sfx, so I keep clear of them as of all devil stuff :japanese_goblin: :japanese_ogre: :smirk_cat: , incl. - never wanting to try them - gabapentin and pregabalin, as well as amitriptyline, which I took for 4 months last year, and did absolutely zero for my pain, zombified me at night and half the day, even at 10mg and under, but caused 8 sfx, the 8th being steadily increasing seizures. I weaned off of it in only 10 days and felt increasingly better every day. But not just meds: Similar zomfibying fx/sfx with only 2mg of CBD oil and only 1mcg!! of melatonin too (5% of the tablets I’d been prescribed)… And strong sfx with other fairly common supps & herbs like 5-HTP, L-tryptophan, ashwagandha, taurine…

So all the more “angelic” is the real GABA with glutamine, theanine, passiflora being uttermost game-changers for me, apparently :new: NADH for post exertional malaise, maybe :new: NAC & ribose for energy too, maybe support from magnesium malate, glycinate, mumijo, P5P (B6) & serrapeptase.
