Hello, Everyone!
I am new to this sight, and relatively new to FM. I moved 2 weeks ago, bought a new home, got a new job, have made no new friends. Oh…lol…I’ve been married almost 30 years to an amazing man
Since the move, my fibro pain is worse than ever. The pain in my hands is so bad it is waking me up at night. Usually my hands hurt in the am, but by the time I shower and eat breakfast, they are ok. Now, I have pins and needles all day - in addition to them hurting sooooo much at night.
Any suggestions to get rid of this hand pain?
Jane
Hi Jane,
Congratulations on your new home and your new job!
Have you seen a Reumatologist ? I guess it’s possible
That you could have arthritis in your hands? Sometimes
Fibromyalgia patients also have authritis as well. : (
I’ve been experiencing the same, and I haven’t seen a RA
Dr. Yet. You might want to try some ibuprofen .
The pins and needles that your feeling could be
coming from your neck? With all the moving you might have
Over done it…
I will be married for 29 years this
Month… Oh boy, long time : )

Hi Jane,
Welcome to this site. You will find everyone here is friendly, compassionate and just downright great! I have arthritis in my hands, as did my mother. My hands hurt but not like yours I don't think. Good luck, you will get some great ideas here. I have been married over 42 years. It will be 43 years in October of this year! Now that's a long time!
Glad you found us!

Welcome to a wonderful place full of awesome people and resources. With so many new experiences and knowing how stress can exacerbate fibro and other conditions it appears that it might have caused a flare up of your symptoms. Please check out the fibro 101 tab that talks about some of these concepts. My hands hurt like you describe and as Jackie said, you might have another condition. I have severe oseteoarthritis that flares like fibro in worsening my symptoms. I use a heating pad to give some relief to the pain in my joints. I also take anti-inflammatory meds. I hope you get some relief soon. Keeps us posted, on how things go. And congratulations ladies married, for 30, 29 and 43 years respectively. You must know all the ins and outs of maintaining a successful marriage. Kudos to you. Hugs, ST.
Thanks for replying, and congrats to us for having wonderful people in our lives! I do not have RA - my dr did tests before I moved. Possibly oseto? I am an optician and work with my hands all day. Lately, I’ve been dropping tools and even people’s eyeglasses. I have difficulty putting screws in glasses. I thought by taking a few weeks off for this move would help, but it didn’t.
My next step should be to see an arthritis dr.
Thank you all for your help and thanks for welcoming me to this group!

Hi Jane,
I have Osteoarthritis and Fibro. I used to type all day. My hands have got so bad I can’t type all day like I used too. My hands are numb most days and sometimes cramp up so bad I can’t used them at all. Some finger joints have sharpe stabbing pains. I was tested for RA and that was negative. I feel your pain and a rheumatologist might be able to help you. I know you just moved so maybe you should ask around for a good one. good luck and let us know how you make out.
congrats on you being married for so lone, I’m going into my 25th year.
Gentle hugs,
QW
Hi Jane...I'm a Jane too. lol I wear arm braces at night; they give support to the wrists. They may feel a little ridiculous to wear but it's worth trying. I wear them because I was diagnosed with carbal tunnel syndrome in both hands. You may want to consult your doctor just to see but you can buy those support braces at your local drug store. Hey, welcome to the site. You have a ton of friends on here; just give it some time. Take care...and gentle hugs to you Jane.
Other Jane. lol
Hi Jane,
Wow, you've had a lot going on! I'm hoping the hand pain is just from all you've done lately and as soon as you pace yourself better, it will subside. I've found that I have to treat my day in chunks. Do something for a bit, then change whether it's resting or doing a chore.
I've made it a joke that every time I drop something, I'm getting my exercise by bending over! Boy am I getting a lot of exercise!
Please keep us posted on how your hands are feeling.
Take Care!

I was told today that I probably have fibro.....I've been in so much pain for the last six months and nobody would listen to me....finally I had an appointment today with my primary doctor who found that I have all the pain on pressure points all around my body...he's put me on Lyrica and Naproxin....does anyone else take these two medications?
