Hi I went to a new GI doctor today and he wants me to start on Linzess in the morning 30 minutes before breakfast. This is for gasteroparesis and IBSD. I have read some reviews that were terrible and some ok. Has anyone taken this before? Yuk I am so tiered of this medication for one thing or another but I have to figure something out!
Oh also being tested for SIBO
I have chronic constipation. It was suggested to use miralax. I had to take it for 2 days before it would work & it would work for 2 days & then stopped working. I tried exlax, again the same pattern. Then I came across roasted garlic & “YAAAAAY” it’s working! I hope I can tell you how to do this. I bought heavy duty aluminum foil, I bought the largest “clumps” of garlic & I already have olive oil in the cupboard. My way uses a lot of aluminum foil. I tear out an arms’ length of foil, fold it in half, I push off all layers but the skin touching the cloves. I have found it easier to use my super duper kitchen scissors rather than a knife to cut off the tops (pointys) of the cloves (not the hard part that keeps the cloves together). I place them cut side up on to the foil. I pour on the olive oil. I then fold the sides up & having the top sides together I fold them down. Kind of like you do for chip bags. The reason is to encase the garlic so that it’s own steam cooks them. I set my oven to 350*F & check the garlic for doneness with a fork (like you would potatoes). I don’t have a set time. I check every 20min. When they are done I use table salt. The requirement is to consume 4 cloves per day. & I am Happy with the results, I have poo pooed every day since I started this experiment on myself 2 weeks ago. Last Sunday I started my daughter on this & for her it is only 2 cloves. Love, Light & Peace, Maggi.
My mom was just hospitalized with a blockage scare. She had one years ago and this one was probably “one of those things” because of scar tissue… anyway, the point is, the gastro-surgeon said if he had it his way EVERYONE would take Miralax EVERYDAY. He said it won’t hurt you and it may very well help you. He told my mom his entire family takes it every day.
Worth considering.

I’m surprised if you have IBS with diarrhea (IBSD)that he would suggest linzess. I was given it because although I’d had IBSD for years I was suddenly experiencing it with constipation. Linzess basically cleans you out! With diarrhea! It reminds me of the stuff they give you before laparoscopic surgeries or colonoscopies. I don’t take it all the time…I will wait and use it on a Saturday that I will just be at home… If I’ve been experiencing constipation. I think it works great… But I feel better when I take miralax regularly.
Believe it or not, I do NOT have OIC even with the meds I take. I eat a VERY high fiber, low fat, healthy diet. In fact, it even lowered my cholesterol. Like most of us, I get tired of having to take so many meds. One thing that WORKS wonders is taking 500mg MAGNESIUM! Since I started taking it every night, never had any more issues at all. I will be interested to see how it works for you. My GI doc wants me to see motility doctor, but I don’t think I am going to. I know OIC is very uncomfortable. Does it cause you abdominal pain? I am STILL having ab pain, but I was told by the specialist it was neurological. You may want to see a GI and find out if there is some other issue causing your OIC. Also, increasing the fiber intake is a must. I eat the Cinnamon oats Cheerios and add this other bran cereal (it has 55% of you daily fiber requirements - looks like chow mein noodles). Also, fiber one bars, the chocolate chip ones have 40% of fiber req. Those two together, along with a few veggies should do the trick. Eliminating fatty and fried foods helps too. Good luck - keep us posted. Deb
Hi Nannyfor3
Thanks for your response. I made the mistake of putting down IBSD instead of IBSC! Big mistake. So I take it for gastroparesis and constipation! It’s working! Thanks so much for your response.
I figured you probably just said the wrong one.
