Medication help

I was asking Sue, Renie...this posting is confusing. I try and respond right under the person but sometimes my response gets moved. Actually, now that I look back on my post I do see that I addressed my question to you.

I am sorry that you have problems with the pain meds. Have you tried Lyrica or cymbalta?

Codeine is out, ADVERSE, and I have so much trouble taking narcotics, well, many meds actually. Opana is one of the few I can take, but not the ER, something in there that makes me want to dig my skin off, caffeine perhaps?

I don't believe you can take 100 mg of Tramadol. I think the max is 50mg. Go and look it up on www.webmd and that will help you understand a little bit more than a doctor can tell you. Sometimes I think doctors just put you on a med and they don't know how it is going to react with the other meds you are taking. Doctors are suppose to know this stuff but they don't. That's why we have to be proactive and be our own buddy and ask questions. If you doctor can't answer your question I would not take any drug unless I did my research. Good luck. XX-hugs.

Holy moly, Morphine, wow. That is one powerful drug. Has your doc ever thought about Oxycodone. Much, much weaker but it works if you take it regularly. I've been taking Oxycodone 30mg, 3 times a day for over 3 years and it is still helping me with the pain. Oxycodone for me keeps me from not getting all goofed up. I can still drive and not worry about getting into an accident. The only time I can't drive is when I have Fibrofog. My thoughts is get off that Morphine so you can function and have your doc find another pain drug for you that does have such horrible side effects, such as being unable to function. Because that stinks. Good luck and ask your doc questions and be your own buddy and question, question and question your doc. If you doc can't answer your questions then do your own research. I like www.webmd.com There also is a website where you can type in all the meds you are taking and it will tell you if there are drug reactions or if the drugs you are taking work well together. I can't remember the website but I believe you can do the same thing on webmd. Good luck! And XX-hugs.

I've been on tramadol about 2 yrs as needed. I have to take 100 mg, 50mg does nothing for my pain. My body does build up a tolerance though so if I'm taking it 2-3 Times a day for a few days then it stops working & I'll have too stop taking it a couple of days then I can start again. I've never tried taking it with ibuprofen but it would be ok to do so. The tramadol takes the edge off my bad flare ups but never has fully gotten rid of it. It does a better job for my mild to moderate pain days. I saw something on pinterest the other day that said "If I ever wake up without any pain I'd think I was dead!" Sad but true! Hope your flare up ends soon!

And btw...leave a message for your doc and tell him/her that you want to take 2 so when you need a refill they won't say it's too soon or think your abusing it. I've had issues with my doc and my migraines meds because I was having bad headaches for a couple of weeks and needing it more. When I needed a refill they told me I'm taking it too much and I need to see a neurologist. They left me with NO migraines meds! I have an appt with a Neuro doc at the end of the month. Been taking excedrin migraine in the meantime but it's not very effective!

Tramadol is a mild opioid, it is a very common ain medication prescribed for Fibro sufferers it is very effective for fibro pain. when they give you pain meds they always start you on the lowest dose because some people are more sensitive and will get relief from the lowest dose and some people experience nausea. Tramadol comes in 50mg 100mg 200mg it was unlikely that 50 mg would have done much to alleviate the pain I would not mix the tramadol with the Ibufprofen but would increase the tramadol by 50 mg but 6hrs between 100 mg dose do it gradually till you get some pain relief up to 200 mg but it does make some people nauseated I have taken it for years but you have to get the right dose if 200 mg gives you no pain relief check back with your doctor he may prescribe more I take 400 mg so it totally depends on the individual good luck Jeannie

Hi Tramadol is a very common fibro drug generic name ( Ultrum ) it is a mild opiold, as I said I would not mix it but a increase to a 100 mg would be ok after that if no relief was found I encouraged here to seek medical advice about further increases 50 mg is a baseline dose another 50 mg may give her the relief she if looking for I do not encourage mixing different painkilers because of drug interactions. I was a emercency room nurse and I have taken tramadol for many for many years, the only bad side effect you may experience is a bit of nausea, plain soda water is grate for that but give it a good chance it does give you some good relief form pain Jeannie

I would be very careful with tramadol. I took it for a long time at 50mg. The doc up my dose to 100mg, every 4-6 hours as needed. I had three seizures. I never overtook and didn’t even take every 4-6. The neuro doc said tramadol has become such a popular drug over Vicodin and other opiates that he gets multiple seizure cases, from people with no prior history of them. Thankfully i always had someone with me when it happened and that I was at home. Wait to discuss with your doc!
