Medications

I would just like to know what medications people are on and if they find them effective.

Hey Rachel! I'm glad to see you posted your question :) Again thanks for the friend request. I wrote you a message with my opinion. Hope some of it helps!

Hi Rachel, I take Savella for the fibro, it does help for sure ! I also use a low dose fentanyl patch, Tizanidine for muscle pain & tons of supplements

If you type in medications in the box, on the discussion page under forum discussions… All discussions come up on meds… One had 125 responses on pain medication

Hi Rachel:

I have just started Neurontin for my fibro pain but not up to my MD desired dose of 300 mg/ 3 times daily yet. I also have Vicodin as needed but my MD will not give me anymore so I only use them if I am in extreme pain. I take Nortriptyline at night for sleep which does help. Sometimes I take Advil 300 mg a couple times per day most of the time.

Just started acupuncture last week, so too early to know if this will help. I hope some of this information helps or gives you ideas to ask your doctor about. Have a better day!

Hi Rachel,

I took Cymbalta and did not like the side effects-I was super angry all the time. Right now, I don't take anything for fibro. I have been experimenting with different supplements like fish oil, and B2. My doctor hasn't prescribed any pain killers mostly because I won't complain about the pain. I tend to think I can muscle through things. What is so hard about medications is that Cymbalta might work for some people, but not for others. There is just not a single answer and I think it makes fibro so difficult.

I am prescribed Tramadol, Ibuprofen 800, Flexeril, Adderall, Xanax and a few other as needed meds. I feel ibuprofen is a friend, tramadol does nothing. Flexeril makes me drowsy and therefore I take it at night, yet I can't say I get too much help from it. I take Adderall to help with my energy and it does give me a slight boost, but wears off quickly. The one unexpected benefit from the Adderall is that it actually helps with pain a bit. Deciding to take Adderall was a long thought out process because I was worried about becoming twitchy/tweaky, however at a low dose I don't feel that way, and family has never pointed anything out. My Xanax seems to heighten whatever mood I am in, so I only take it when I know I'm putting myself in a situation where I'm more likely to face high anxiety. I don't work because of my anxiety and pain, so I have a little more freedom at avoiding anxiety inducing situations, however I refuse to be a shut in, so I find the Xanax as a lifesaver for my more public moments. I do have to say that I have tried for 3 years to be put on Percocet, I would love to have my scripts be higher in quality than quantity.

I take Norco 3 times a day. When I start hurting I know I'm due for another. To be pain free all the time, I would have to take more. I think it's great that your not taking anything. After finally be told I had fibo I was put on Zanax for sleeping. Put me on all the pills for fibo had horrible side effects. I'm going to try a natural pill called L-Tryptophan, you might check into it. Wish I didn't start the Norco because now I feel dependent on it & if I don't take, I'm in tears.

Well, where to begin? Effexor, Nortriptylin, Hydroplaquenal, prevestatin, Levothyroxyn, tramadol, Vitamin D, b-12 and a few others for reflux, and muscle relaxers. I hate that everyday I wake up and take meds, then at night I take them again before going to sleep! My RA doc confirmed that because of all the meds I am gaining weight, but I can't stop taking them because If I do I will be in unbearable pain! Can't seem to win for losing, LOl

Hi Rachel,

I'm on Lyrica and it is effective, even though I have a lot of pain that it doesn't assist. But if I skip a dose, I'm in agony. So it's working. I guess we're just in so much pain that the Lyrica can only sop up so much.

I'm also taking Nortriptyline for sleep, Effexor for depression from the fibro. They both do help but I'm finding the Effexor to be less effective than it was in the past.

Hope that helps,

Petunia

Hi Rachel,

I have quite a long list, easiest thing is to just click on my icon or name and read my profile! They all help me a great deal, sometimes it is enough, sometimes not! Finding the right med, the right dose is always tricky! I wish you success with yours!

Hugs,

SK
