Meds? and an update

I just left the rheumatologist, he did the tender point thing and also took some more blood. He said I have fibro symptoms but wanted to rule out a few more things. I was prescribed neurontin 300mg 2x a day and also tramadol 3x daily when needed. Any one else on these meds? Do they help? Also, are side effects horrible? Thanks!!

Hi Luc,

I'm on Tramadol. It works great for me. I usually take it right after lunch because at first it made me tired. Now I don't feel it as much. I haven't noticed any negative side effects from it.

I was on both of those meds and neither one seem to help me at all..I can't take the tramadol before bed or I asn't able to sleep even with my sleeping pills. I am still trying differ meds til I find one that works for me.

hi Luc.. sounds like you have a good doctor who is working with you and listens to you. from my experience there is no 'one size fits all' . so you have to find what works best for you.. best of luck and sending you BIG HUGGGGS

Thank you all! I’m really glad I found this place.

Hi Luc,

Glad to hear you've gone to see a rheumatologist. That's an important step for fibro sufferers, as the rheumy can check us for other diseases that mimic fibro symptoms and can co-exist with fibro, in some people.

In answer to your question: they help some people but not others. There is no one fibro med that works for everyone. Neurontin gave me headaches, which was too bad because it did help to get rid of fibro pain! But once I was put on its cousin, Lyrica, I was fine. Everyone is different when it comes to meds. You'll have to try them and see if they help you. Anything unusual you experience you should call your doctor about. And you can find a list of adverse reactions on the website of the medicine you're taking.

Congratulations to you for going to a doctor and getting help. You may not find the perfect meds on the first go round but you will eventually, as long as your doctor tries different meds when one doesn't work.

Hugs,

Petunia

Tramadol worked wonders for me, but I can’t take it because I am on cymbalta… Contraindication will not let my dr prescribe together any longer.
I hope these help you
