Im am currently about to go to my doc soon.
What pain meds work best for your fibro??
I have been on Morphine ER and IR and they just dont seem like they are doing well anymore. Any inputs on what works for you might help. I have a high med tolerance and dont know much about pain meds and especially what works best with equivalent to what i currently take or better.
Hello Regaladomom6,
That is a very interesting question, and I am sure you will get lots of advice here. In my opinion, and from what I have found out, there is nothing that works completely to remove Fibro pain. There are a lot of people taking truckloads of meds, and they are still in pain. My Doc and rheumatologist will only prescribe Amitriptyline, helps more with sllep than pain. So still in pain here, but trying to manage it by pacing myself, having a nap and just trying to get into things like relaxation and mindfulness. Wish you well,
Take care, Anne
Hi Regaladomom6,
Like Anne, my rheumy and my doc are very hesitant to prescribe heavy pain meds. I'm on meloxicam daily (instead of Motrin) and Ultram as needed (which is every day when I get home). If I need heavier meds, my doc says I have to go back to pain management (which I can't do until this summer...I'm a teacher) Remember to stretch when you get up...in bed where it's warm. I hope you feel better!

Hi, Regalado.
If you haven’t yet, please check out our Fibro 101 guide. Auburnm’s discussion on Treating FMS is particularly informative. I, myself, have found you need to approach it from all fronts- mind, body and heart. Be persistent and keep trying things until you find the right combination that helps you the most. For me, this means eating well-balanced meals, staying healthy emotionally, light exercise (aquatherapy, yoga and walking), warm baths, pacing myself and a combination of conventional medications and supplements.
I have also just begun mindfulness and relaxation exercises. I am finding these to be helpful with de-stressing and keeping myself calmer when pain flares.
Hugs,
Laurie
