Neurofeedback Has Helped Me Cope

Hi All --

For me, weekly psychotherapy has been a critical part of my self care/pain regimen. In an effort to find additional ways to support me, my therapist became a trained neurofeedback provider and I have been receiving these treatments for about a year.

I started with two sessions a week and now do 3-4 sessions a month. It is completely painless (in fact the sessions are super relaxing and I often leave feeling like I took a really good nap.) For me, this type of treatment has dramatically increased my ability to cope with my illness which in turn has diminished the anxiety and depression it can cause. Less anxiety/depression has led to somewhat less pain so a slight downward pain cycle is in place. Neurofeedback has not stopped the pain or replaced medication, meditation, supplements, talk therapy, salt baths, and other forms of treatment, but it has been a significant addition to my treatment plan. It took several sessions to "kick in" but since then has had a beneficial, cumulative effect for me.

Results vary for different people of course, but if you haven't tried this option it could be a helpful tool in your arsenal.
