Hi all,
I'm new to the group, was diagnosed with FMS in Feb of this year. It's been great to read some of the posts and blogs....I can relate to so much of what was written. Right now I live in the same area as my extended family. They are able to help out if I have a flare-up and need help with my kids.
My husband recently lost his job and we are going to have to move out of state where we don't have a support network. What do I do if I get really sick again and need help? Is there anyone else out there who has dealt with this? I have 3 little ones, ages 2, 4 and 6.
TIA,
Debbie
Debbie,
I am so very sorry to hear about all the things going on with your help and around you. Even though you have been comfortable where you at I would look at this as a new beginning. I am sure you will adjust and rebuild a new support system. Possibly you’ll find the move is better for your FM. I would start researching the area and doctors and have everything set to help with your medical transition. See if you current doctor can give you enough scripts to hold you until you ma me new connections.
May I ask what state are you moving to?
If the weather is warmer, that will certainly help your FM. Being prepared mentally, using a calendar to jot down what has to happen when is KEY!
I was not in the same situation, but have found good planning is always what helps me get through. If you don’ t then you get upset/ stressed and then your body reacts. Setting your mind through self talk can also help. You can find loads on the Internet on this, but in a nutshell this is how it works. You actually sit or stand in front of a mirror, you verbally say out loud I know this move is going to work for all of us. Tell yourself that my body is going to be there to support me during this time. Once you keep doing this your mind and body work together and it can be a much easier transition.
Many folks with chronic issues and in pain just let the pain take over or control. Don’ let yourself fall into that trap. Having three littles remember are a blessing and even though they are little they love their Mommy unconditionally.
Sending good wishes and strength your way. Please let us all know how you are doing, we as a group are here for you all the way through this changing time in your life.
Ron
