New medications

I haven’t posted in a while. I do have to say I appreciate everyone on this site for being there for me when I needed to vent, ask questions, or just try to understand I am not alone. Things have been hard lately. I was in the hospital back in October because I had a severe asthma attack and developed pneumonia while I was there. At the end of Oct I had to travel 6 hours away to go to my daughters wedding that that wore me out. i think it took a month to recover. Since Oct. I have been dealing with all kinds of issues going on. I have went to my rhummy a million times it seems like and I have been beginning for some Planquil. I was told about the middle of January I should be able to see if it was going to help. About 3 weeks ago I went into a flare like no other. I couldn’t sleep, walk, move, nothing without being in so much pain. I finally go into the see the doctor and I begged them to do more blood work on me. I have found out that my pain is not only fibro pain but also sjogrens. I have told these doctors for months i had an auto immune disease. They didn’t listen very well. So after going to the doctor a million time since Oct I finally got someone to listen to me. I was started on Methotrexate. Do anyone take either of these medications and if you do can you let me know how it worked out for you. I have a two year old grandson and I want more than anything to get out of the bed and run around with him. It is very stressful and could be another reason I am stuck in this flare. Thank you all for your support
Gentle hugs.

sometimes i think even the doctors don’t know what to do. my rheumatologist wanted to start me on plaquenil which i think caused your flare. in my particular case i refused it because it is the med of choice for malaria. when i told my dr. that, she became irate and told me the SIDE EFFECT of the med is helping fibro. to which i replied, its been used for malaria for decades, i dont feel like trying it. She stormed out of the room and after just sitting there for about 10 minutes, i got dressed and left. so my only meds right now are Norco for pain and Xanax to help me sleep at night. Doctors have to realize that each medicine works differently on different bodies. good luck --i hope you feel better soon. I too have grandsons (teens now) and wish i could go to all their sporting events like i used to, but i simply cannot.

Prncessrenee: I took plaquenil years ago and I had no abnormal side effects from it. I did have to visit my eye doctor twice a year, though, because it can cause eye problems. In my case, that didn’t happen.

What issues are you having with your Sjogrens? Dry eyes and mouth? Any other problems?
