Out of work!

First of all, what are you doing about your fibro treatment regime? What meds are you on? I don't think that pulling you out for 4 weeks is an answer when fibro does have good days and bad days? How experienced is your doctor with fibro?

I have had fibro for about 19 years. For all these years I was able to function and the fibro was not severe. Just over a year and a half ago, I got the shingles and the fibro came on like wild fire. I was with a doctor that I finally decided really was not treating me well, I switched to one that has been wonderful! Because we have moved, I still travel 125 miles one way to see her! It has been trial and error, but together we have focused on a plan that is working!

I have been trying all sorts of meds, I have been getting worse and worse my family has been really worried about my health…so i think it was the best for me right now.

Necee I lost my job as an RN in May 2014 and it had a lot to do with my FM and chronic fatigue. It was hard to admit to myself how ill I am and it started to show in my ability to do the work. I knew I wasn’t really up to th task any longer. Getting fired was upsetting to say the least. I have been on unemployment since then. It has caused me great financial worries. The stress doesn’t help my symptoms. I applied for long term disability using a lawyer. It takes time to get approved. If you think you are to the point where you need to file for permanent disability, get a lawyer that specializes in it and do it as soon as possible. Good luck with whatever you decide. I know that it is a tough decision.

Hi Necee. Sounds like you got a really bad break. Sometimes it’s hard to admit that you can’t do the job that you’ve been doing for a long time. Taking a break from the job may be good for your health, but bad for your finances. The other thing to consider is are you completely unable to do anything because of Fibro or can you simply not do that job because of five? Again, when you’re healthy you can often put up with almost anything five days a week 8 to 10 hours a day with Fibro it becomes progressively more difficult. Sometimes there’s a niche job that works out well for you, that will keep the lights on and food on the table and at the same time accommodates some of your limitations. Think about things that you’re good at as well as things that you love to do. Also, make sure you stay in touch with your doctor, keep a pain diary and ask about alternative options that have not yet been explored. Bottom line, stay engaged.

I am out on a 6 week FMLA leave because my pain got so bad I could hardly walk. I am just trying to rest and see what happens. I can retire with a pension but I don't want to if I can help it. I am on day 10 and I've had good and bad days. I will pray for you and I home you will pray for me.

Will do, im having good and bad to…right now in alot of pain…im doing alot of praying
